Mental Health Social Worker

The Full-time Mental Health Social Worker will be responsible for supporting mental health care staff, and meeting the unique needs of each beneficiary in the targeted areas.


Responsibilities and Essential Functions
  • Conduct a full assessment of beneficiaries’ needs, including mental health needs, by filling appropriate MHPSS forms (e.g., intake form, progress form) and tools (e.g., PHQ-9, GAD-7)
  • Initiate case management of the case using a biopsychosocial, multi-disciplinary and community-based approach
  • Maintain a professional, respectful and empathic relationship with beneficiaries and their families
  • Work closely with members of the mental health team to formulate a care plan
  • Follow-up regularly on beneficiaries’ care plan and all services provided
  • Act as contact person for when beneficiaries and their families require information concerning their care
  • Effectively assess, support, and follow-up on critical cases
  • Provide basic psychosocial support and psychoeducation to beneficiaries under the advisement of the mental health professionals
  • Provide awareness raising sessions and psychoeducation sessions concerning mental health issues
  • Conduct outreach activities when needed
  • Maintain accurate records and patient files
  • Knowledge of/willingness to build capacity and knowledge in mental health in complex emergencies is a plus (IASC guidelines, Psychological Fird Aid, mhGAP…)

Knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Good organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to adhere to ethical considerations and principles with regard to work with vulnerable populations.
  • Good report writing skills.
  • Ability to communicate with vulnerable populations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and internet use.
  • Fluency in written and spoken Arabic and English; French is a plus.

Experience:

  • 2-3 years of work experience.
  • Previous experience in NGO and humanitarian field is an advantage.
  • Previous experience in working with children and vulnerable populations is an advantage.

Working Conditions

  • Stationed at the healthcare facility, with visits to IOCC office when needed.
