Pediatric Dietitian For In-Patient Management Of Acute Malnutrition (Bekaa)

Background:  IOCC is a US-based international relief and development agency established in 1992 by the Standing Conference of Canonical Orthodox Bishops in the Americas (SCOBA). It offers emergency relief and development programs to those in need worldwide, without discrimination. IOCC has been working in Lebanon since 2001 and has a decade of experience in implementing community-driven programs that address a broad range of social issues, from relief to community development and education. (For more information on IOCC, please visit our website at www.iocc.org) Programs description: IOCC has many programs in health and nutrition that aim to protect the wellbeing and nutritional status of vulnerable groups in development contexts as well as in relief. Currently, relief programs target populations that are affected by the on-going Syrian crisis. The programs focus on management and treatment of malnutrition both at the hospital and primary heath care level. Title: Pediatrician for in-patient management of malnutrition. Summary: IOCC is seeking qualified candidates to fulfill the position of Pediatric Dietitian for in-patient management of malnutrition on 6 months contract, with possible extension, for its Lebanon Country Office. Responsibilities include: 1)       Conduct weekly visits to hospitals treating cases of malnutrition in the areas of Baalbeck, Zahleh, and West Bekaa with priority given to hospitals who have cases and ad-hoc visits to hospitals in other areas upon need. 2)       Follow up daily on in-patient management of malnutrition and provide support including referrals to breastfeeding management. 3)       Provide on-the-job training and technical support to healthcare staff in area hospitals involved in the treatment of admitted cases of malnutrition according to the protocol for inpatient management of malnutrition. 4)       Point out and address main challenges hindering the application of the protocol for the inpatient management of acute malnutrition. 5)       Coordinate treatment with the Pediatrician for inpatient management of malnutrition. 6)       Report daily on the status of admitted cases.  Qualifications and Requirements: BS or MS degree in clinical dietetics Minimum 1-2 years of experience in hospital based pediatrics Willing to travel in-country Ability to train and coach Excellent communication skills Motivated, community-driven, demonstrates initiative.
