Project Area Coordinator

Summary

 

The Project Area Coordinator will oversee and coordinate the implementation of the project activities across the area, covering Nutrition, Infant and Young Child Feeding, Early Childhood Development, maternal and child health, and food security. The role ensures high-quality implementation, effective coordination with stakeholders, and timely reporting, while leading and supporting the project team.

 

Responsibilities and Essential Functions

 

  1. Coordinate, supervise and monitor the implementation of the nutrition, ECD and food security project activities at area level.
  2. Organize, coordinate and conduct training to project staff on nutrition, ECD and food security topics where necessary
  3. Directly supervise the Project Supervisor, Social Workers, and Malnutrition Monitors working at area level, participate in the recruitment process of team and conduct regular staff meetings to ensure proper fulfillment of tasks.
  4. Assess, discuss and address program challenges with team and project manager
  5. Coordinate with supported PHCCs, malnutrition monitors, and health and nutrition advisor to ensure proper implementation of the malnutrition program
  6. Coordinate with the health and nutrition advisor, attend the internal health and nutrition platform meetings and ensure activities align with national nutrition guidelines, donor requirements, and organizational standards.
  7. Ensure that food parcel distribution to malnourished or at-risk cases is done in a timely, transparent, and accountable manner.
  8. Establish strong link and relationships with different stakeholders, including sectors, donors, other NGOs, MoPH PHC coordinator, municipalities…
  9. Oversee data collection, verification, and reporting systems across all project components.
  10. Track progress against targets, identify challenges, and propose corrective actions.
  11. Prepare reports as needed and follow up on the monitoring and evaluation activities to ensure timely internal and external reporting
  12. Represent the project at coordination meetings and sectoral working groups as delegated.
  13. Ensure effective referral pathways between community-level workers, social workers, PHCCs, and other external services.
  14. Promote adaptive learning by documenting and sharing best practices, challenges, and lessons learned.
  15. Report back to Project manager on a regular basis.
  16. Perform other duties as required or assigned

 

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA):

  • Strong problem-solving skills and capacity to be flexible and accommodating when faced with difficult and frustrating working conditions
  • Proven capacity in management, leadership and teamwork
  • Proven capacity in writing reports
  • Proven capacity in training
  • Excellent communication skills and team building skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Excellent computer skills: Microsoft Word, Excel, Power point
  • Willingness to use personal car and to frequently travel to the field and IOCC Office
  • Fluency in written and spoken Arabic, English and French

Experience:  

  • At least 3-4 years’ experience in nutrition and/or child development projects in humanitarian or development contexts.
  • At least 2 years in a coordination or management role, supervising multidisciplinary teams.
  • Previous experience in CMAM and IYCF program implementation is an advantage
