The PSS officer will be responsible for implementing Psychosocial Support activities with the children with disabilities and their caregivers.


Responsibilities and Essential Functions
  • Develop protection session plan and conduct psychosocial and awareness activities at the community level.
  • Identify protection concerns and provide psychological support to cases of concern.
  • Make necessary and timely referrals when needed, respecting confidentiality and the beneficiary’s right.
  • Collaborate with families, caregivers, and interdisciplinary professionals to integrate therapy goals into daily routines and learning environments.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and case discussions, refer and coordinate with case managers and other specialists.
  • Ensure timely reporting of the activities.
  • Build the capacity of the field staff on psychological issues, when necessary.
  • Attend the Protection working groups.
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned.

Qualifications

Knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Good organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Self-motivated and initiative taker. 
  • Good report writing skills.
  • Ability to communicate with vulnerable populations.
  • Advanced knowledge in psychosocial / psychological interventions (Child protection, Sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV), art therapy etc...)
  • Dynamic personality.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Fluency in written and spoken Arabic and English; French is a plus.
  • Ability to work compassionately and effectively with children, families, and a multidisciplinary team.

Experience:

  • 2-3 years of work experience.
  • Previous experience in NGO and humanitarian field is an advantage.
  • Previous experience in working with children with disabilities is an advantage.

Working Conditions

- Travel required between service locations in Akkar and North Lebanon
