The Persons with Specific Needs (PWSN) Social Worker will serve as the focal person for receiving referrals, determining the risk level of each case, referring Medium/High Risk cases to PWSN Case Workers for case management (CM) intervention, and providing appropriate counseling for Low Risk cases. This includes referral activities and meeting the unique needs of each beneficiary in the targeted areas.
Responsibilities and Essential Functions
- Identify children with specific needs and provide them with the best opportunity to connect to care services
- Performs screening exercise effectively, is aware of the used tools and eager to learn and adapt to new tools in the process.
- Provide needed assistance to the targeted beneficiaries and make necessary and timely referrals to services whenever needed, respecting confidentiality and the beneficiary’s right.
- Follow up on the referred cases to ensure their access to the right services
- Provide awareness sessions on several topics/services when needed
- Hold regular coordination meetings with PWSN CWs to follow up on the beneficiaries’ status
- Ensure timely reporting of the activities to the supervisor
- Coordinate with other NGOs, partners and local organizations for identification and referral of cases
- Conduct outreach activities to identify cases when needed
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and case discussions, refer and coordinate with case managers and other specialists.
- Perform other duties as required or assigned
Qualifications
Knowledge, skills and abilities:
- Good organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Self-motivated and initiative taker.
- Good report writing skills.
- Ability to communicate with vulnerable populations.
- Dynamic personality.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Experience:
- 2-3 years of work experience.
- Previous experience in working with children with specific needs and vulnerable populations.
- Previous experience in NGO and humanitarian field is an advantage.
Working Conditions
Stationed in the office (in Mina), with frequent visits to the field in North and Akkar.
