The Senior Health Officer will supervise and manage the implementation of IOCC’s Health and Nutrition Programs in the North including Nutrition, Health Promotion, Infant and Young Child Feeding, and maternal and child health. The Senior Health Officer will be responsible for representing IOCC in the North for health and nutrition, managing and supervising the Health and Nutrition Team and building the capacity of health and Nutrition staff.
Responsibilities and Essential Functions
- Act as a focal point on all health and nutrition projects and activities in the North
- Plan, supervise, manage and monitor implementation of health and nutrition projects in the North
- Conduct trainings on health and nutrition topics to IOCC staff, primary healthcare center staff, partner NGOs and agencies, where necessary
- Contribute to planning and assessing new health projects and writing concept notes and proposals when required
- Supervise team at the area level, participate in the recruitment process of team when applicable and conduct regular staff meetings to ensure proper fulfillment of tasks.
- Assess, discuss and address program challenges with team and program coordinator
- Arrange visits for media, donors, and partners and represent IOCC during visits to the field.
- Establish strong links and relationships with program stakeholders, internally and externally, including PHCs, SHCs, partner NGOs, beneficiaries, municipalities, local NGOs, Caza Physicians, MoPH PHC Coordinators and donors.
- Attend and participate in IOCC meetings as well as all Health and Nutrition Working Group coordination meetings and other working group meetings as needed or requested
- Submit weekly reports on achievements in the North, prepare monthly/quarterly reports as needed, and follow up on the monitoring and evaluation activities to ensure timely internal and external reporting
- Report back to Program Coordinator on a regular basis.
- Perform other duties as required or assigned

- Willingness to use personal car and to frequently travel to the field and IOCC Office
- Fluency in written and spoken Arabic and English
Experience:
- At least 3 years work experience; or 1 year work experience with M.Sc.
- Previous experience in NGO, and humanitarian field is an advantage
- Previous experience in CMAM and IYCF program implementation is an advantage
