Area Officer

Job Overview/Summary: The IRC Child Protection programme is seeking an Area Officer to ensure the good delivery of the Child Protection activities in one area of intervention. Major Responsibilities: The Child Protection Area Officer is responsible to manage the Child Protection assistants and case workers and ensure the good delivery of the activities: Program: Work with the child protection Manager in the introduction of IRC in the field Coordinate the child protection team in one area of intervention and ensure that its work is according to guideline and standards Participate in the identification of volunteers Supervise child protection assistants and case workers Ensure that the logistical material and transportation are available for the appropriate running of activities Support, supervise and monitor the activities of the CP assistants and Case Workers Ensure a standardized approach across the different communities where implementing Ensure regular monitoring and on site coach visits Provide technical support to the CP team in the delivery of the activities Raise up any challenge or constraint to the Child Protection Manager and/or Specialists Participate in the development of best practices and lesson learned Facilitate and co-facilitate training when required  Actively participate in the trainings assigned to him/her Monitoring & Reporting Develop weekly and monthly plan for the CP assistants  and their work in the field Fill observations checklists whenever conducting field visits Compile a weekly report of activities Staff Management and Development Coach, train, and mentor staff with the aim of strengthening their technical capacity, exchanging knowledge within the team and providing professional development guidance Supervise and mentor direct-report staff, including communicating clear expectations, setting performance objectives, providing regular and timely performance feedback, and leading documented semi-annual performance reviews. Provide constructive feedback and counsel on appropriate career paths and professional development. Promote and monitor staff care and well-being; approve and manage all leave requests to ensure adequate coverage. Other Consistently and proactively monitor/assess the safety and security of field teams; promptly reporting concerns or incidents to IRC management and liaising with community leaders and other external parties as required to maintain/enhance the security environment for IRC programs Ensure activities are done in accordance with IRC logistics policy and in a timely manner to ensure the successful implementation of programs; Ensure that all relevant financial documentation is completed accurately as required by IRC finance policy Liaise and collaborate with other PSS actors when required Maintain positive coordination and relationships with partner and other IRC sector staff Other duties as assigned by the supervisor to enable and develop IRC programs Key Working Relationships: Position Reports to:  Child Protection Program Manager Indirect Reporting: Child Protection Deputy Program Coordinator Other Internal and/or external contacts: Internal: Other IRC programs on the field    External: other NGOs Job Requirements: Education: University degree in social science, social work pedagogy or relevant field Work Experience: 3 years work experience minimum Experience in working with children and organizing activities Experience in community mobilization Experience in working in emergencies preferable Experience in working in a cross cultural environment preferable   Demonstrated Skills and Competencies:   Team player, flexible, network-builder, able to handle pressure, enjoying working in the field Ability to develop partnerships, network and attend coordination meeting Good communication skills Language Skills:  Fluency in writing and typing in Arabic and English mandatory Certificates or Licenses: Proficient in Word and excel Working Environment:  Office work and field trips
