Artist for Wall Painting Activity (Arsal and Tripoli) - National Candidates Only

Scope of work:

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) founded in 1933 is an international organization specializing in emergency and humanitarian programming. In January 2014 as part of IRC child protection programs, the IRC began implementing a specialized project which serves at risk and vulnerable working children in child labour, including in its worst forms (street, mechanics, and construction). Service provisions include providing psychosocial support and case management services for street and working children in Mount Lebanon, Tripoli, and Bekaa.

The World Day against Child Labour is observed on June 12th. It is intended as a way to highlight the plight of working children and to support the worldwide movement against child labour.

Impact behind the activity:

The Street and working children team is planning to implement a wall painting activity to commemorate this day. The drawing will consist of messages to advocate for children’s rights and highlight the importance of eliminating child labor. Children will be spending the day while participating in this activity to paint (along with other psychosocial support activities), as a way to express themselves and advocate for their rights through arts. In addition, this wall painting activity will serve to raise awareness within the Tripoli and Arsal communities.

A consultant is needed to draw on a designated wall in Tripoli and another in Arsal (based on the municipalities’ approvals), and support the team to implement the activity with the children between July 1 and 31, 2021.

Deliverables:

  • Present the idea to the street and working children team, through showcasing the drawing as a soft copy.
  • Once approved, the consultant is expected to produce 2 drawings (one on a wall in Tripoli area and another in Arsal) – The drawings should revolve around raising awareness on child labor and advocating for the rights of working children.
  • Prepare a list of needed materials and share it with the child protection managers.
  • Support the children and team during the event to guide them on how to paint the drawings.
  • Perfectly finalize the drawing, in case the children weren’t able to paint it all, and make sure to submit it to the team as agreed during the beginning of the assignment.
