Case Worker (Based Qobayat)

Working under the supervision of the WPE Senior Officer and with technical support of the Case Management Officer, the Caseworker will provide direct psychosocial support and case management to survivors of Gender Based Violence (GBV) and vulnerable women and girls.  The Caseworker will work as part of a WPE Rapid Response Team or Mobile Team and will also lead group psychosocial activities for women and girls affected by the crisis. Major Responsibilities: Case management Provide direct support and care for vulnerable women and girls (including survivors of gender-based violence), including counseling and basic case management.  Case management services will include: Assessment of needs Developing an action plan Implementing the plan Appropriate follow up Case closure (if and when appropriate) Provide direct age-appropriate and specialized support and care for vulnerable adolescent and girl children (including survivors of GBV), including counseling and case management.  Case management services for survivors under the age of 18 will include the above steps of case management along with: Best Interest Determination (BID) Age appropriate engagement and decision-making by survivors Do No Harm analysis Identify appropriate spaces to provide case management in mobile settings following principles of safety and respect; make recommendations to ensure spaces are made safe and appropriate for case management Document GBV cases using standard IRC’s tools and maintain safe and complete case files Collect accurate and confidential data on GBV service provision using the GBV Information Management System Participate in regular case management meetings and conferences to ensure quality of service provision Psychosocial Support Assess needs of women and girls in a community by participating in safety assessment and community mapping exercises and work closely with Community Mobilizers to develop appropriate and timely response strategies Lead and facilitate regular emotional support group sessions, including emergency emotional support groups for women and girls at high risk of GBV, following IRC’s standard guidance Manage and oversee delivery of all other psychosocial support activities, including skills-building and recreational activities, by supervising trainers’ performance and ensuring psychosocial outcomes are prioritized Identify, recruit and supervise teachers and trainers who deliver psychosocial activities in mobile settings Other Ensure smooth implementation of activities by coordinating with team members and support staff to purchase and manage program materials, handle petty cash as per IRC’s policy and contribute to regular purchase and spending plans. Support and collaborate with local partner staff, including by providing coaching and training on how to provide case management and psychosocial support to survivors of GBV Draft and contribute to regular weekly and monthly reports Other duties as assigned by the supervisor to enable and develop IRC programs All IRC staff is required to adhere to THE IRC Way Standards for Professional Conduct and the IRC country employment policies. Key Working Relationships: Position Reports to:  WPE Senior Officer Position directly supervises:  N/A Indirect Reporting:  Other Internal and/or external contacts: Internal: Case Management Officer, Adolescent Girls Assistant, Community Mobilizer External:  service providers, municipalities, community leaders Job Requirements: Counseling and training experience with a reputable organization, including at least six months of experience counseling survivors of abuse or violence. Clear understanding of gender inequality, and issues surrounding violence against women and girls. Ability to maintain confidentiality and respect for clients at all times is essential. Positive and professional attitude, able to organize, maintain composure and prioritize work under pressure, work overtime when necessary and be able to coordinate multiple tasks and maintain attention to detail. Ability to work as a member of a team essential. Must be computer literate, including Microsoft Word and Excel. INGO experience preferred Personal qualities: Works well in and promotes teamwork, comfortable in a multi-cultural environment, flexible and able to handle pressure well. Fluency in Arabic required Ability to communicate in English and write clear and concise reports in English strongly preferred Working Environment:  The position will be based in Qobayat with daily travel to program locations in and around Wadi Khaled. Security clearance will be obtained on a daily basis.
