Child Protection Officer

SCOPE OF WORK: The Child Protection Officer (CPO) will be responsible to coordinate the team of the pilot street and working children project in Beirut. The project is composed of a Manager, an officer and 2 street educators and 2 case workers. The role of the officer will be to coordinate the field activities, ensure that child protection principles are respected while working with children and their families, supervise the case management and psychosocial activities in the streets and inside centers. On top of the coordination work the CPO will be responsible in documenting the progress of the project and in collaboration with the Manager and UNHCR develop further the strategy of the project. RESPONSIBILITIES: Program Support the implementation of the scoping exercise, verify and compile the information and support in the development of the report Coordinate the field activities of the street educators and case workers ensure the staff safety and that staff respect child protection principles Provide technical support and monitoring to the case management team, ensure that case management obey minimum standard principles. Provide technical support and monitoring to the street educators in the organization of psychosocial activities Facilitate and co-facilitate training to policymakers and front liners in contact or involved with street and working children Identify, develop and produce a strategy to influence policy makers to improve their response to street and working children Develop one case study per month to document and informed the pilot project Coordinate with the Protection team in the development of the monitoring tools and database Compile, correct and analyze on a weekly basis the result of the monitoring from the street educators identify trends and produce on a monthly basis the street and working children in the protection deport Participate in an ongoing manner in the  development of the project strategy to ensure that the project respond to the needs of the street and working children Identify and develop realistic prevention response strategy that can be apply to this context of street and working children Follow the operational needs for the Street and working children program Any other Child Protection activities as required   Coordination & Representation Represent IRC in coordination meetings at the Beirut and national level when required Liaise and collaborate with other IRC CP programs and other sectors especially the protection team from Mont Lebanon REQUIREMENTS: Experience in working with children mandatory Experience in working with street and working children preferably Field work experience Mandatory Management experience mandatory Experience in working in emergencies preferable Three  years of relevant work experience in the area of child protection preferably including case management and psychosocial activities Experience in working in NGO preferable Experience in strategy development  and set up of new project preferable Fluency in Arabic mandatory and conversation and written English an advantage Knowledge of child protection database / CPIMS preferred Proficient in Word and excel Travel and other requirements: Staff will be based in Beirut and will spend a large amount of the time in the field.
