Communications Officer - NATIONAL CANDIDATES ONLY

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Collecting and packaging content (50%)

·    Support the Country Communications Manager to collect and package content for donor reporting, social media, marketing, fundraising, media and global communications needs. 
·    Maintain a calendar of donor deliverables which is accessible to program and communications colleagues 
·    Work with the Communications Community of Practice to gather, arrange and package the content collected by them under the supervision of the Country Communications Manager 
·    Uploading and filing content in an organized manner, including interviews, transcripts, photos, videos and consent forms to the IRC’s internal content management systems 
·    Contribute to drafting and creating social media posts for the Country Director and organizational social media channels as required 

Monitoring and analysis (20%)

·    Keep up to date with relevant reports, data and key news articles, and researching information on the humanitarian situation in-country
·    Work with program and MEAL teams to gather project information and updates on the impact of our work
·    Support in ensuring all country fact sheets are kept up to date 

Media (10%)

·    Support the Communications and Information Manager with media requests as required
·    Support in identification and follow up of media stories
·    Support media and digital monitoring as required 

Internal communications (10%)

·    Collate information and produce updates about the work of the Lebanon country office as required, e.g. for Rescuenet, the regional newsletter etc. 
·    Post signed off articles on RescueNet, the IRC’s intranet, to ensure that the work of the Lebanon Office is known and understood across the IRC network. 
·    Support visits of IRC staff to Lebanon to ensure that communications opportunities are maximised, as appropriate. 

Administration (10%)

·    Support maintenance of productive working relationships with external suppliers such as designers, film-makers and printers, creating a database of their contact information
·    Provide general administrative support on communications projects to the Communications and Information Manager as required 

General
•    Comply with the IRC’s policies and practices with regard to safeguarding, code of conduct, health and safety and other relevant policies and procedures 
•    To perform other responsibilities as agreed between you and your line manager 

KEY WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

•    Reports to the Communications and Information Manager, IRC Lebanon 
•    Works closely with Communications colleagues in the Regional MENA office 
•    Close co-ordination with program colleagues, particularly the Communications Community of Practice in the Lebanon Country Office 

PERSON SPECIFICATION 

Essential

Skills, Knowledge and Qualifications:
·    University degree, preferably in a subject related to this post, or equivalent experience
·    Knowledge of the Lebanon humanitarian communications context, specifically with relation to IRC’s mandate 
·    Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
·    Ability to synthesise and adapt complex information for a variety of audiences, working within tight deadlines 
·    Strong attention to detail and skills in proofreading 
·    Strong creative thinker with track record of producing engaging communications content 
·    Good digital and media analytical skills 
·    Ability to prioritise and organise own workload and meet deadlines
·    Self-starter who can take the initiative and deliver results successfully
·    Ability to work effectively as part of a team and build and maintain excellent relationships across the country program 
·    Willingness to work flexibly in approach to work and/or work time requirements
·    Committed to IRC values and mandate
·    Fluency in Arabic and English, spoken and written  

Experience:
·    Experience of writing and editing compelling content for print and digital channels (web, social media) to a high quality within tight deadlines 
·    Experience of dealing with external suppliers, such as designers, printers, logistics 
·    Experience of working with a creative agency and/or humanitarian or development organisation in a similar role 
·    Experience in photography 

Desirable

·    Experience in filming b-roll and interviews 
·    Design and film editing skills: Adobe design suite, Final Cut Pro, InDesign
·    Understanding of donor visibility compliance 
·    Fluency in other languages (e.g. French)
