Education Officer (Hermel Based)

Job Overview / Summary: The Education Officer will be responsible for coordinating and overseeing work done at the community level by a team-based Community Mobilizer in supporting formal school enrollment, access and retention for Syrian refugee children in North Bekaa. The Education Officer will be primarily field based and will oversee education support activities at the community level, and will also be the key liason with Headmasters and key focal points in formal school locations. Education Officer will also liase with vocational training centers in target areas (TVET) to support scholarship programs for Syrian refugee students. The Education Officer will report back to a Senior Project Officer. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: Plan and oversee outreach sessions in community settings supporting formal school enrollment and retention in North Bekaa Oversee Monitoring and Evaluation of field activities (focus group discussions, child satisfaction surveys, key informant interviews) in coordination with the M&E Assistant and M&E Manager Oversee and participate in needs assessments and outreach activities in communities to support formal school enrollment Collaborate directly with school headmasters and key formal school focal points to support enrollment, retention, and parental engagement Collaborate directly with vocational (TVET) headmasters to support youth enrollment under scholarship program Support and oversee training sessions for parent committee members Monitor and oversee ROVs, who are focal points and community level, for information dissemination for school-related activities Monitor protection risks and referrals for vulnerable children and children with special needs Attend regular meetings with Community Mobilizer, Senior Officer and Education Manager for project monitoring, oversight, and coordination Ensure proper documentation (hard and soft copies) of all school level and community level records, in coordination with the M&E Department Any other duties related to the job as directed by the Senior Officer, Manager and/or M&E Manager JOB REQUIREMENTS: University degree in social science, education, pedagogy, or related field Minimum of 2 years working experience in the field of education and/or community-level humanitarian work overseeing community-level programming (awareness sessions, parenting) Proven track record in cultivating and maintaining positive working relationships with school headmasters Capacity to work in a team with flexibility to take on additional tasks, as needed Experience in working with communities (monitoring, training) Working experience in NGO a plus Fluency in written and spoken Arabic mandatory English speaking is a plus  Travel and other requirements: The position will be based in North Bekaa, with some travel required between the North and IRC Zahle field office.
