Field Associate - Child Protection X2

Background/IRC Summary:  Provide a brief synopsis of the IRC and overall country program, department, office, or project team.  Include size, scope, programmatic focus, and basic context. The International Rescue Committee is an international organization specializing in Emergency and humanitarian programming existing since 1933 and working in more than 40 countries. In response to the influx of Syrian refugees in Lebanon, the IRC started a Women’s Protection and Empowerment (WPE) program and a Livelihood program in 2012 with program strategies implemented in various locations in the Northern and Beka’a Governorates. IRC is now complementing their response with a Child Protection (CP) program covering Mount Lebanon, Bekaa and North regions. IRC is also addressing specific needs of street and working children in Beirut and implementing a case management capacity building program at national level. Job Overview/Summary: The field associate is working in the community and support Syrian volunteers in the organization of psychosocial activities for children and caregivers as well as organizing community and awareness raising events. Who this position reports to: The field associate reports to the Area Officer Major Responsibilities: Organize in the first phase recreational and psychosocial activities in the field Train and coach Syrian volunteers in the organization of recreational and psychosocial activities Identify children requiring more targeted psychosocial activities or case management and ensure to refer them safely to the case management team Organize parenting skills sessions for caregivers Participate and support the organization of community events Monitor the activity run by  the volunteers Collect on a weekly basis the data of the activities organized in the Learning and healing spaces Work in close collaboration with the case worker and other IRC staff Raise any concern or challenge to the Area Officer Any other CP activity as required Other Consistently and proactively monitor/assess the safety and security of field teams; promptly reporting concerns or incidents to IRC management and  liaising with community leaders and other external parties as required to maintain/enhance the security environment for IRC programs Other duties as assigned by the supervisor to enable and develop IRC programs   Professional Standards All IRC staff are required to adhere to THE IRC Way Standards for Professional Conduct and the IRC country employment policies.   Key Working Relationships: Position Reports to:  Area Officer Position directly supervises: Volunteers Job Requirements: Technical diploma or degree in social science, pedagogy, preferable Experience in working with children and organizing activities Working experience in NGO a plus Minimum of 2 years working experience Demonstrated understanding of working with children and particularly vulnerable children Personal qualities: Team player, flexible, network-builder, able to handle pressure, enjoying working in the field Fluency in written and spoken Arabic, English speaking is a plus
