BackgroundFounded in 1933, the International Rescue Committee is a world leader in relief, rehabilitation and post-conflict development services for those uprooted or affected by violent conflict and oppression. The IRC is currently working in over 25 countries around the world, addressing both the immediate and lifesaving needs of conflict affected people in emergencies and the reconstruction needs of post-conflict societies. The IRC has been responding to the Syria crisis in Lebanon since November 2012.
Position OverviewUnder the direct supervision of the Grants Manager the Grants Officer will be responsible for providing administrative support to the Grants Manager. Duties will include maintaining grant files, scheduling and organizing regular grant meetings, supporting the Grants Manager and Finance team in processing sub-grant proposals and agreements, assisting with planning highly-organized field visits by donors and IRC delegations, editing reports and proposals as needed, and other special projects.
Responsibilities
Maintain all paper and electronic grant files
Assist the Grants Manager in compiling grants information for IRC’s regional and NY offices
Gain familiarity with and responsibility for IRC’s online proposal tracking tool
Maintain an up-to-date grants calendar, including donor and sub-grant reporting deadlines, budget vs. actual meetings, grant opening and review meetings
Support the Grants Manager by taking and distributing detailed notes at grants-related meetings
Plan highly-organized donor and IRC delegation field visits
Assemble briefing packets for donors and other visitors
When possible, undertake field travels to interview staff for M&E purposes
As needed, supporting the Grants Manager and Finance team in processing sub-grant proposals and agreements
As needed, edit donor reports and proposals
Perform other duties, as requested by the Grants Manager
Requirements
Highly-organized
Excellent written and spoken English and Arabic
Highly motivated, fast learner with good interpersonal and time management skills
Ability to maintain the highest degree of discretion
At least a BA education level
At least one year of prior professional experience in a similar post (preferably NGO or UN agency)
High-level skills in Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Familiarity with internet research and common software applications
Ability to work within a multi-cultural team
Familiarity with program design, including log frames, budgeting and grants/report writing preferred
