The IRC Child Protection and Women’s Protection and Empowerment (WPE) programmes are seeking a Life Skills Assistant to work in the community and support volunteers in the organization of Life Skills Activities for adolescent girls and boys.
Major Responsibilities:
Program:
Mobilize groups of adolescents to participate in psychosocial activities provided by the IRC, including emotional support groups, skills-building, non-formal education and recreational activities
Deliver life skills activities for adolescents through mobile and centre based activities based on the IRC’s curriculum My Safety, My Wellbeing for adolescent girls and and adapted curriculum for boys
Coach volunteers in the delivery of like skills activities for adolescents
Refer youth that might need additional individual services to case management team members
Collaborate with CP staff, WPE caseworkers and other CP and WPE team members to ensure GBV responses are taking into account specific needs and vulnerabilities of adolescent girls and youth-friendly communication techniques are used
Daily collect data on the activities organized and ensure that all the relevant forms are duly filled and shared with WPE and CP department as defined
Participate in awareness raising events with both the Child Protection and WPE team
Work in close collaboration with the case worker and other IRC staff
Raise any concern or challenge to the CP Area Officer and Senior WPE Officer
Other
Promptly reports concerns or incidents to IRC management and liaising with community leaders and other external parties as required to maintain/enhance the security environment for IRC programs
Ensure activities are done in accordance with IRC logistics policy and in a timely manner to ensure the successful implementation of programs
Other duties as assigned by the supervisor to enable and develop IRC programs

Internal: CP volunteers, WPE WGCC team, and other IRC programs in the field
External:
Job Requirements:
Education: technical diploma in social science or pedagogy preferable
Work Experience:
2 years work experience minimum
Experience in working with children and organizing activities
Experience working in NGO is a plus
Experience in working in a cross cultural environment preferable
Demonstrated Skills and Competencies:
Team player, flexible, network-builder, able to handle pressure, enjoying working in the field
Demonstrated understanding of working with children and particularly vulnerable children
Good communication skills
Language Skills:
Fluency in written and spoken Arabic, English speaking is a plus
Certificates or Licenses:
Proficient in Word and excel
Working Environment: Office work and field trips
