Medical Advisor for PHCCs - Akkar

Background

In more than 40 countries and over 20 U.S. cities, IRC provides clean water, shelter, health care, education and empowerment support to refugees and displaced people.

The IRC has operated in Lebanon since 2012, delivering lifesaving care and life-changing assistance projects to vulnerable population in the education, early childhood development, protection and rule of law, women’s protection and empowerment, child protection, livelihoods and health programming.

 

Consultancy Summary

The medical advisor will provide advice and medical support to the Primary Healthcare centers (PHCCs) supported by the IRC. He/she will monitor the quality of care, the medical prescriptions and approves the requests for diagnostic tests.

 

Major Responsibilities

  • Approve the requests for diagnostic tests ordered by the PHCCs physicians.
  • Monitor the prescriptions of medications and diagnostic tests.
  • Assess the quality of documentation in medical records, ensuring the level of documentation meets the MoPH guidelines and supports patient safety, adequate referral process, continuity of care and medico-legal requirements.
  • Submit reports monthly, and based on the need, to the Health Manager.
  • Monitor the quality of medical practices at the PHCCs and identify gaps according to MoPH standards and guidelines.
  • Conduct field visits to the PHCCs.

 

Deliverables

Field visits + visits reports + remote approvals and technical guidance on all cases received by the PHCCs

 

 

Job Requirements:

  • A medical degree (MD).
  • A license to practice medicine in Lebanon.
  • Being a member of the Lebanese Order of Physicians (LOP).
  • NGO experience.

 

Experience and Skills

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Very good reporting and writing skills.
  • Knowledge of the National PHC Department guidelines and packages for PHCCs.

 

Working Conditions

Remotely with four visits to the field (in Akkar) per month
