Outreach Associate Woman Protection And Empowerment

BACKGROUND: The International Rescue Committee is an international organization specializing in emergency and humanitarian programming. In response to the influx of Syrian refugees in Lebanon, the IRC started a Women’s Protection and Empowerment (WPE) programme in 2012 with program strategies implemented in various locations in the Northern and Beka’a Governorates.   SCOPE OF WORK: The WPE Risk Mitigation Associate will facilitate information sessions on available services, and support programming through mobile services and outreach activities at agreed safe spaces in Bekaa, Lebanon. The WPE Risk Mitigation Associate will also be responsible for training and supervising a team of community outreach volunteers to ensure increased information to vulnerable women and girls about services and risk mitigation activities.    Who this position reports to: WPE Protection Officer   RESPONSIBILITIES:   Community outreach and engagement Conduct weekly outreach visits to provide information on available services, facilitate referrals and community mobilization; Support outreach teams to conduct weekly visits to beneficiaries;    Disseminate information materials, in collaboration with the WPE Protection Officer, ensuring messages are appropriate for the community and tested before dissemination; In collaboration with the Protection Officer, refer GBV risks and protection concerns of women and girls to relevant partners and community leaders; Through outreach visits, assess needs of women and girls for follow up activities through mobile services or centre based activities and liaise with the Response team on a weekly basis. Assist the WPE Protection Officer to conduct weekly or bi-weekly safety audits to identify risks faced by women and girls in their settlements;   Monitoring & Reporting Consolidate findings from weekly outreach visits and activities. Prepare and submit weekly reports to the WPE Protection Officer (oral or written).   Coordination & Representation Support adherence & dissemination of referral protocols amongst stakeholders and provide information on available services to beneficiaries; Maintain positive coordination and relationships with partner and other IRC staff.  Mobile services Provide regular support to mobile services (including emotional support sessions, skills building, and recreational activities)  in particular, recruiting, organizing and supporting activities as designated by the WPE Response officer in collaboration with the WPE Protection officer. Lead information sessions and other activities through community outreach and mobile services to target women and girls.  Other Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.   Professional Standards All IRC staff are required to adhere to THE IRC Way Standards for Professional Conduct and the IRC country employment policies.  REQUIREMENTS: Ability to engage with community members in an open manner, maintain confidentiality      and respect. Positive and professional attitude, able to organize. INGO experience preferred. Works well in a team, flexible and able to handle pressure well. Computer literacy preferred but not required. Fluency in Arabic required. Ability to communicate in English and write reports in English strongly preferred.   WORK ENVIRONMENT: Staff will be based in Zahle and provide mobile services to four locations across Bekaa at identified safe spaces.  Occasional travel to Beirut may occur.    WOMEN OF ALL BACKGROUNDS ARE STRONGLY ENCOURAGED TO APPLY
