Project Manager, Staff Safeguarding

Job Description

The Project Manager for Staff Safeguarding sits within Global Human Resources and provides overall coordination and management support for a cross-functional team working on policies and activities related to safeguarding staff members in the workplace. The PM-SS role will be a project management specialist who is able to set project parameters, assign work, monitor deadlines, coordinate inputs, ensure that complications are managed in a timely fashion, and contribute editorially as required to ensure project success. The PM-SS will interact with senior operational and technical experts across the global organization as well as with external vendors. Excellent knowledge management, interpersonal skills, and cultural competency will be essential for success in this fast paced role.

Major Responsibilities:

• Personally drive project delivery, and problem solve issues by applying a “roll up the sleeves and fix it” attitude;

• Apply established criteria and tools to effectively and efficiently facilitate and report against program execution with measurable results;

• Facilitate effective collaboration of project contributors across partner functions in order to deliver efficient and timely project delivery;

• Integrate and manage the program timeline by identifying all project internal & external interdependencies;

• Act as a point of escalation when project issues arise;

• Interact with all levels of the organization: senior leaders and partner functions, outside consultants, vendors and other key stakeholders inside and outside of IRC;

• Perform risk and issue management at the program level: Collaborate with all project leadership to identify risks and issues that are not visible at the task level but impact the overall project or broader program/portfolio;

• Act as a gate keeper for all new content being developed and ensure consistency among the different tools/materials produced;

• Analyse data with the goal of discovering useful information, determining trends and patterns, informing conclusion and supporting decision-making.

• Prepare reports tailored to specific stakeholder requirements – both internal and external.

• Exhibit a “client-first” attitude to listen and understand the needs of our country teams and incorporate them into the processes, tools, approached that are developed;

• Develop insights and well-supported opinions based on varying feedback from wide range of stakeholders and independent research.

Qualifications

Work Experience:

• 3+ years’ experience in Project Management.

               

  Demonstrated Skills and Competencies:

• Solid ability to apply project management framework, including:

  • Assigning and tracking responsibility and setting milestones;

  • Breaking a complex project into manageable parts;

  • Organizing and sequencing tasks;

  • Managing cost, performance and partners’ expectations; and

  • Developing a project plan.

Preferred Experience & Skills:

• French and/or Arabic language skills strongly preferred;

• PMP Certification or equivalent;

• Excellent attention to detail;

• Strong listening skills and the ability to accurately follow directions;

• Excellent interpersonal skills;

• Experience interacting and communicating effectively with members of a complex organization at multiple levels;
• A focus on personal growth and development, and a willingness to regularly receive and act on performance feedback in pursuit of continuous professional growth;
• High level of comfort with MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

Working Environment: 

• Standard office work environment;
• Some travel to countries of operation as needed.
