Protection Case Worker (CP/GBV)

Job Overview/Summary:

The Protection Case Worker provides direct support and case management to vulnerable individuals including women, girls and children across GBV, and Child Protection (survivors of sexual abuse). The role is part of the protection team in various locations in the Akkar Governorate, including:

Case management services located in community centers or community-based safe spaces.

Emotional support groups in safe spaces and community centers.

Psychosocial activities tailored for diverse age groups and need community-based safe spaces.

 

Major Responsibilities:

1. Provide direct support and care to vulnerable individuals through community-based activities:

  • Deliver case management services for survivors of GBV, and children’s survivors of sexual abuse.
  • Case management services include:
  1. Basic counseling and psychosocial support
  2. Assessment of needs and resources
  3. Developing safety and action plans
  4. Implementing the plan
  5. Appropriate follow-up and referrals
  6. Case closure
  7. Provision of Emergency Cash Assistance (ECA) when applicable and needed based on proper assessment

 

2. Provide age-appropriate and specialized support for children and adolescents:

  • Deliver case management services for survivors under the age of 18, including children survivors of sexual abuse, and survivors above 18.
  • Services include:
  1. Age-appropriate engagement and survivor-centered decision-making
  2. Do No Harm
  3. Coordination with Child Protection and GBV actors and services
  4. Organize, facilitate, and monitor psychosocial activities
  5. Mobilize and register participants for structured psychosocial activities.
  6. Facilitate emotional support groups and structured group sessions using available guidance.
  7. Create support group plans and facilitate mid-point and final group evaluations for monitoring and reporting.
  8. Ensure activities are inclusive and accessible to diverse groups (women, adolescents, and children).

 

3. Monitoring & Reporting:

  • Support the maintenance of the IRC’s case management system and relevant Information Management Systems (GBVIMS, CPIMS).
  • Complete the case management quality assessment tool on a monthly basis.
  • Support tracking of mobile activities’ beneficiaries using agreed M&E tools.
  • Participate in weekly reporting and planning meetings to ensure adherence to standards of care, quality case management, and reporting requirements.

 

Key Working Relationships:

  • Reports to: Protection Senior Case Management Officer.
  • Works with: Caseworkers, PSS Assistant, Male Community Mobilizer, Protection Support Manager, Protection Monitors, Protection Senior Officer.

 

Job Requirements:

  • At least six months of counseling experience with issues relating to violence against women and girls, child protection, gender and development, or social change.
  • Clear understanding of gender inequality, child protection principles, and broader protection concerns.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and respect for clients at all times.
  • Positive and professional attitude; able to organize, maintain composure, and prioritize work under pressure.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple tasks and maintain attention to detail.
  • Strong teamwork skills essential.
  • Fluency in Arabic required; English is an asset.

 

Working Environment:

  • The position will be based in Der Dalloum Akkar with daily travel to program locations. Security clearance will be obtained on a daily basis.
