SCOPE: In 2014, as part of a broader strategy to provide sustainable community-based protection to persons of concern, the IRC will work with local NGOs and community structures in order to build their capacity to monitor protection concerns and identify and deliver appropriate solutions. Under the direction of the Protection Training Manager, the Protection Training Officer is responsible for support to the design and delivery of trainings on Protection Monitoring, Protection Mainstreaming and other technical areas. As part of a small capacity building team, the Protection Training Officer will develop materials and prepare training schedules also provide on-the-job support and mentorship to partner protection staff.
The Protection Training Officer will be based in the South with travel to Beirut and other field locations.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Contribute to the development of training materials for training of partner staff and other stakeholders on Protection Monitoring, Mainstreaming and other technical areas as required.
Assist in the preparation of training schedules and provide support to the Protection Training Manager in coordinating all capacity building activities.
Provide on-the-job mentorship and support to local partner field staff through conducting protection monitoring, information dissemination and other activities in the field jointly with partner staff.
Ensure regular feedback from partner staff is communicated with the Protection Training Manager and other stakeholders to adapt capacity building plans accordingly.
Ensure effective M&E is carried out according to the shared plan.
Regularly report to supervisor on all activities, weekly, bi-monthly & monthly with progress, achievements, bottlenecks to document challenges and lessons learned.
Assist with any other duties as deemed necessary by the supervisor(s).
REQUIREMENTS
Minimum one year of demonstrated experience in community work, preferably with refugees, internally displaced people, vulnerable women and girls etc in similar cultural and political settings.
Demonstrated experience with participatory training development and delivery, preferably on Protection and Women’s Protection and Empowerment topics.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Significant skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, Access.
