PSS Facilitator x2 - Arsal

Project Overview/Summary:

The overall objective of this role is to support the IRC Protection and Rule of Law team in providing timely and effective assistance to internally displaced people (IDP) during emergency situations. The PSS Facilitator will be responsible for providing Community Based Psychosocial Support (CBPSS) and PFA for IDPs in Arsal. 

The PSS Facilitator is responsible for:

Deliver Tailored Psychosocial Support (PSS) Activities:

  • Identify clients to attend the sessions,
  • Organize session plans that are flexible and adaptive to the client’s needs, ensuring the content is relevant, engaging, and inclusive.
  • Tailor activities based on the demographic, including gender, age, and cultural background, ensuring all IDPs community members feel supported.
  • Provide customized psychosocial support activities designed to meet the IDPs specific needs.

Conduct Community-Based Psychosocial Support (CBPSS):

  • Being aware of how IDP experiences affect mental health and conduct sessions accordingly.
  • Facilitate community-based psychosocial support sessions to promote well-being and resilience among IDPs.
  • Data collection and outreach, if necessary and based on the request.
  • The facilitator will also be working on identifying high risk cases and accordingly referring to case workers when needed.
  • Create a warm, welcoming and inclusive environment for attendees.
  • Administer PRE/POST M&E questionnaires.

Provide Psychological First Aid (PFA):

  • Conduct outreach in Arsal.
  • Identify and create a group of IDPs.
  • Offer immediate PFA to individuals in stress and distress to support them during the current emergencies.

Conduct Awareness Sessions:

  • Understand the IDPs context and the severe distress they are passing through,
  • Develop and conduct awareness raising sessions on different topics, including the available support services for IDPs in Arsal area.

Identify and Refer High-Risk Cases:

  • Identify individuals at high risk,
  • Deal with disclosure and refer clients to the Protection Case Management (PCM) team or any other relevant service in the area.

Other duties as assigned by the supervisor to respond to the crisis,

Monitoring and Evaluation Responsibilities:

Report activities / sessions on a daily basis;

Reporting Line:

The PSS Facilitator will report to the Case Management Officer (CMO).

Coordination:

The PSS Facilitator will coordinate with the Case Management Officer, Case Workers, and other IRC protection programs such as WPE and CP.

Consultancy Requirements:

  • Degree in Psychology, Social Work, or a related field.
  • Experience in providing psychosocial support and psychological first aid.
  • Strong understanding of the cultural context and specific needs of IDPs.
  • Demonstrate understanding working in challenging situations.
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and under pressure.

Language Skills: 

Ability to communicate, read, and write clearly in Arabic and English.

Computer/Other Tech Requirements:

Full professional competency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
