Reporting Officer - North Bekaa

Background/IRC Summary: Founded in 1933, the International Rescue Committee (www.theIRC.org) is a world leader in relief, rehabilitation and post-conflict development services for those uprooted or affected by violent conflict and oppression. The IRC is currently working in over 25 countries around the world, addressing both the immediate and lifesaving needs of conflict affected people in emergencies and the reconstruction needs of post-conflict societies. The IRC is implementing protection programming in North Bekaa during 2015, which includes protection monitoring and information dissemination, legal service provision and case management for high-risk protection cases in Arsal.  The protection program seeks to promote a protective environment for adults and children.  Protection monitoring contributes to this objective through supporting a shared understanding of the protection environment by all relevant actors.       Job Overview/Summary: Under the direct supervision of the Protection and Information Manager (PIM), the Reporting Officer will be responsible for reviewing and translating protection monitoring and legal assistance data on a weekly basis, following up with mobile teams to verify and obtain any additional information required. With the support of the PIM, the Protection Reporting Officer will compile actionable protection data for the weekly field report and analyze all captured data through a protection lens to produce relevant, analytical monthly reports for UNHCR. The Protection Reporting Officer will also be supported by the Information, Communications and Technology Officer for Protection (ICT4P) to use online information management and analytic systems including “Ona” and “Ckan.” Major Responsibilities: Prepare, translate and submit weekly field reports to the Protection and Information Manager on a timely manner; Prepare and submit monthly analytical and progress reports to the Protection and Information Manager; Coordinate with mobile teams and Protection Team Leader to obtain detailed and reliable protection monitoring data on a weekly basis; Work closely with ICT4P to produce visual analytical and statistical protection data; Assist the Protection and Information Manager in drafting trends for the monthly Protection Working Group; Perform other duties, as needed or requested by the supervisor. Key Working Relationships: Position Reports to:  Protection and Information Manager, North Bekaa Position directly supervises:  NA Indirect Reporting:  NA Other Internal and/or external contacts: Internal: Information Officer, Protection Team Leader and Protection Monitors External:  An active member of Protection, GBV, CP working groups, as required   Job Requirements: At least two years of prior professional experience in a similar post, preferably with an international organization; Good protection background and knowledge of refugee context; Strong analytical and reporting skills with attention to detail; Excellent English language skills, oral and written, and the ability to translate from Arabic to English; Excellent organizational and time management skills and ability to meet strict deadlines; Fluency in Microsoft office, experience in document design and layout; Good interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team, as well as independently; and, Flexible and able to work in a dynamic and diverse environment. Working Environment:  Standard office work environment and IRC assets will include; internet connection, electricity, personal laptop and work phone.
