Security Guard

Program Background: The International Rescue Committee is an international organization specializing in emergency and humanitarian programming. In response to the influx of Syrian refugees in Lebanon, the IRC is starting an Economic Recovery and Development (ERD) program focused on meeting life and livelihood needs of refugee populations. The IRC ERD livelihood program activities will be implemented in various locations in the Northern Governorate.   Position Overview The IRC is managing a Livelihoods Centre (LC) in Deir Dalloum - Akkar to serve as venue for the IRC’s ERD activities (e.g., ATM card trainings and distributions, candidate assessments, financial management and vocational trainings, etc). It also serves as space to provide advice to both job-seekers and employers. The Livelihoods Center is receiving jobseekers on a daily basis (more than 300 persons/week). Staff security is very important when dealing with big numbers of visitors to the center. The Guar will work at the Livelihoods Center and will be responsible for the security of the IRC staff and of the LC’s visitors through regulating the visitors entrance to the center.   Responsbilites: Be part of the Deir Dalloum/Akkar Livelihoods Center team and be present at the LC premises on a full-time basis, from 9 am till 6 pm Welcome visitors at the Livelihoods Center and verify their identity Keep daily record of the visitors’ names and identity documentation, by getting signatures on entry and exit Regulate the entry of visitors at the Livelihoods Center by making sure that there are no more than 3-4 visitors inside the Center per time Immediately alert Security Officer of any security concern or risk that may emerge at the Center Ensure the safety and security of Livelihoods Center staff Monitor the security environment in Dair Dalloum Provide information on security matters to the security officer Be proactive, polite and conscious of security risks Receive humanitarian safety/security trainings Liaise with the community as per the instructions of the security officer Patrol the premises of the center with dedication   Essential: Knows how to read and write in Arabic, western languages are a plus Previous military or police experience Good physical condition Willingness to work and travel in often difficult and insecure environments; Commitment to IRC global policies and values.
