Job Overview/Summary:
The Senior Child Protection Officer will be responsible for technical support and supervision of the Street and Working Children Psychosocial Support, Apprenticeship, and Cash-for-Work-Community Development program as implemented by a local partner of the International Rescue Committee (IRC). The Senior Child Protection Officer will be supporting the design, set-up and monitoring and evaluation of the program in Tripoli and ensuring timely, effective and quality programming by sharing tools and resources and providing capacity building support and on-the-job coaching to the child protection staff recruited by IRC’s local partner. Internally the Senior Child Protection Officer will be working closely with the Senior Case Management Officer to oversee the Street and Working Children Program implementation in Tripoli.
Major Responsibilities:
Support the design, set-up and monitoring and evaluation of the Street and Working Children Psychosocial Support, Apprenticeship, and Cash-for-Work-Community Development program as implemented by a local NGO in Tripoli;
Ensure timely, effective and quality Psychosocial Support, Apprenticeship, and Cash-for-Work-Community Development programming for street and working children and their caregivers as implemented by IRC’s local partner in Tripoli – and in line with the the IASC Guidelines on MHPSS, other PSS guidelines and tools, and IRC’s Apprenticeship and Cash for Work Standard Operating Procedures;
Provide capacity building support, on-the-job coaching and technical supervision of the Child Protection staff of IRC’s local partner in Tripoli on the implementation of center-based and mobile outreach psychosocial support activities (including night shifts on a rotational basis) and the apprenticeship and cash for work-community development scheme;
Share Psychosocial Support, Apprenticeship, and Cash-for-Work-Community Development tools, resources and lessons learned from IRC’s Street and Working Children program in Beirut and Mount Lebanon with IRC’s local partner in Tripoli;
Develop psychosocial support tools specific to street and working children, including the development of activity modules in close consultation with the Street and Working Children program manager, local partner, and beneficiaries;
Ensure monitoring, evaluation, and accountability tools are utilized and completed accordingly by the Psychosocial Support, Apprenticeship, and Cash-for-Work-Community Development team of IRC’s local partner in Tripoli;
Ensure close coordination and collaboration between the local partners’ livelihoods activities/needs – and IRC’s Economic Recovery and Development program;
Seek opportunities for close coordination and collaboration between the local partners’ psychosocial support activities/needs and other IRC programs (i.e. education, child protection, protection and women’s protection and empowerment);
Ensure that all cases of children at risk of or affected by exploitation, abuse, neglect and violence are immediately reported to the case management team of IRC’s local partner in Tripoli;
Support in the planning, organization and implementation of targeted awareness raising and advocacy events on the protection of street and working children in close coordination with the Street and Working Children program manager;
Write and send out weekly and monthly reports to the Street and Working Children Program manager in a timely manner;
Ensure regular information and data sharing takes place between the Street and Working Children Beirut/Mount Lebanon and Tripoli programs – including updates on achievement and challenges to the Street and Working Children Manager;
Actively participate in all relevant working group meetings as well as bilateral meetings with other agencies on behalf of IRC’s Street and Working Children program, in close consultation with the Street and Working Children Program Manager;
Other
Consistently and proactively monitor/assess the safety and security of field teams; promptly reporting concerns or incidents to the Street and Working Children manager and liaising with external parties as required to maintain/enhance the security environment for the program;
Other duties as assigned by the Street and Working Children manager to enable and develop the program.

Job Requirements:
BA in Psychology, social work, human rights, or related degree preferred
Minimum of two to three years’ experience of implementing child protection programs preferably psychosocial activities, social work or case management, in humanitarian or development settings;
Experience in capacity building, conducting trainings, on-the-job coaching and technical supervision
Demonstrated experience of planning and conducting children’s psychosocial support activities;
Ability to work on the street supporting psychosocial activities for street and working children;
Demonstrated understanding of working with children and particularly vulnerable children;
Good communication skills with children and particularly vulnerable children;
Strong drafting and reporting skills;
Knowledge and experience in using and updating Excel databases;
Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel;
Fluency in written and spoken Arabic and English
Personal qualities: Team player, flexible, able to handle pressure well and work in cross-cultural setting;
Staunch advocate of child protection and child rights;
Desirable not essential
Experience working with street and working children;
Experience working with Syrian, Dom and Turkmen communities;
Experience working with Child Friendly Spaces.
