Job Overview/Summary: The Teacher Trainer will train and support the community teachers in delivering quality classroom instruction, creating a safe and friendly learning environment and ensuring the desired learning achievements by the students. He/she will be supervised by Education Field Manager, and will work closely with Community Mobilizers, CBE officers and Parent&Teacher Support Officers
Major Responsibilities:
Technical Quality
Build the professional skills of community and public school teachers in subject knowledge, teaching methods and techniques for successful delivery of the community-based education. He/she will spend 80% of his/her work time in the field.
Monitor and evaluate students’ learning achievements; assist in the administration of the student learning achievement tests.
Conduct pre service and in-service teacher training sessions for all project teachers
Prepare and provide the training programs and materials with the coordination of Education Manager and the Community Mobilizer according to the program needs (training for school adiministrators, and district MEHE staff, etc...).
Work with community members in identifying non-formal education needs, assuring the community cooperation with the program and their participation
Conduct campaigns and trainings for raising awareness about gender, especially for improvement of female education and their further participation in education.
Prepare and maintain the teacher supervision, class monitoring and teacher in-classroom support files; prepare the work plan in consultation with the team and field manager; report on activities on monthly bases.
Assist the staff in distributing textbooks, other learning and classroom documentation materials
Establish and maintain productive work relationship and coordinate activities with public school MEHE officials and staff of other education sector organizations.
Contribute to the development of quality educational programs and trainings with other IRC education staff.

Internal: ERD/Child Protection/WPE department officers
External: other NGOs working in education in Akkar
Job Requirements:
Technical diploma or degree in social science, pedagogy, preferable
Experience in working with communities
Experience in working with children and organizing activities a plus
Working experience in NGO a plus
Minimum of 3 years working experience (teaching/teacher training)
Personal qualities: Team player, flexible, network-builder, able to handle pressure, enjoying working in the field
Fluency in written and spoken Arabic mandatory English speaking is a plus
Working Environment: Field based in Akkar, with at least half time spent traveling to ITS camps and non-formal schools, meeting with community leaders, and half in the office in Quobayat processing work and reporting with the team. Holding meetings and trainings in Education sites (tents and buildings in or near ITS camps).
