Training And Life Skills Officer (Livelihoods Center)

Brief description of the position’s role within the Project(s): The IRC manages a stand-alone Livelihoods Centre (LC) in Akkar to serve as venue for the IRC’s ERD activities (e.g., ATM card trainings and distributions, candidate assessments, financial management and vocational trainings, etc). It also serves as space to provide advice to both job-seekers and employers on legal matters pertaining to Lebanese labor regulations. Job-seekers are advised on their rights as workers and on working conditions they should expect. The LC advocates for employers to offer decent working conditions to their employees, including equal wages for women and men, minimum wages, working hours, and safety and health at work. The LC specifically seeks to target youth and provide them with employable and life based skills. The center is expanding to provide youth with English language skills and life skills, and address literacy gaps. Position objectives: The main objective of this position is to successfully establish and run trainings through the IRC Livelihoods Center on English language and literacy skills, and incorporate basic life skills for youth into all trainings.  Who this position reports to: Livelihoods Manager RESPONSIBILITIES: Under the direct supervision of the Livelihoods Manager With the Livelihoods Manager, oversee the operations of the Livelihoods Center with regards to language, literacy and life skills development for youth. Ensure appropriate day-to-day supervision of literacy, life skills and language training at the center, including working with service providers and participants on attendance sheets, pre and post tests, logistics and other issues. Develop and implement terms of reference and work plans for service providers and review progress at regular intervals Deliver life skills components of trainings as necessary, based on direction and curriculum developed by IRC. Participate in designing and leading the collection and analysis of data on relevant trainings and any follow up with participants. Establish and maintain contact and productive working relationships with community representatives, local and international organizations, jobseekers/beneficiaries and employers as related to life skill development.  Collaborate with the M&E Manager and the Database Officer to develop effective measurement of objectives.  Organize and assist in data collection and analysis for beneficiary and community selection, as well as for monitoring and evaluation of all training. Ensure that beneficiaries’ selection is in full compliance with IRC procedures, pre-established vulnerability criteria. Create linkages with other IRC programming in education and protection as well as with other actors delivering life skills curriculum.  Assist the Livelihoods Manager in assessing service providers and participate in selection panels as per IRC procedures Other Other duties as assigned by the supervisor to enable and develop IRC programs Professional Standards All IRC staff are required to adhere to THE IRC Way Standards for Professional Conduct and the IRC country employment policies. REQUIREMENTS: 1-2 years of experience in training, skills development, employment or life skills projects, preferably youth focused Demonstrated experience and capacity in delivering training to youth Previous experience in drafting reports Strong ability to work independently, organize work, meet deadlines, maintain composure, prioritize work under pressure, coordinate multiple tasks and maintain attention to detail Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills, creativity and flexibility Personal qualities: Works well in and promotes teamwork, comfortable in a multi-cultural environment, flexible and able to handle pressure well. Fluency in English and Arabic required WORK ENVIRNOMENT: Travel and other requirements: Staff will be based in Akkar, Northern Governorates, with some travel required between the field office and the main IRC office in Beirut
