INTERSOS is a non-profit humanitarian aid organization that works to bring assistance to people in danger, victims of natural disasters and armed conflicts. Established in 1992 with support from the Italian Federation of Trade Unions, its actions are based on the values of solidarity, justice, human dignity, equal rights and opportunities for all people and respect for diversity and coexistence, paying particular attention to the most vulnerable and the unprotected.

INTERSOS is an independent association which, through its own humanitarian operators, intervenes to effectively answer the needs of people in serious crises situations, mainly in the world's poorest regions, who are suffering, deprived of rights, dignity and essentials goods. It maintains a flexible operating structure. The head office in Italy coordinates, supports and monitors the planned activities in the countries of intervention carried out by decentralized offices.

Job Title      : Case Worker (GBV and PwSN)

Job Purpose:

  • Provide appropriate and timely case management by assessing the needs of individuals with protection concerns, developing and implementing tailored case plans based on needs and ensuring appropriate follow-up while creating a climate of trust and care. Act according to the guiding principles of GBV and PwSN      case management including: survivor centered approach, respect of confidentiality, prioritize according to safety concerns, ‘do no harm’, ensure a non-discriminatory approach, act according to the best interest of the child, ensure accountability, respect professional boundaries and avoid conflict of interest;
  • Ensure that protection principles are understood, maintained and enforced;
  • Provide direct support and care for vulnerable cases with protection concerns (including survivors of gender-based violence and Persons with specific Needs), including basic psychosocial support and emergency case management.

 

  • Generic Duties:
  • Conduct intake interviews with individuals identified by the team during outreach work or referred by other agencies, and open a case if vulnerability criteria are met 
  • Detect, counsel and follow up individual cases identified through other activities      by the team or referred by other agencies; or through community services, protection monitors, or other internal components where applicable.
  • Conduct psychosocial assessment of vulnerable cases, including environmental, emotional, behavioral, and social factors as well as resources and strengths that impact the individual well- being;
  • Conduct home visits to assess clients’ living conditions when necessary; 
  • Develop a tailored case plan with the client, based on needs identified during the assessment; 
  • Provide continuous basic emotional support and counseling through regular follow-up meetings, establishing a relationship built on trust respecting confidentiality protocols
  • Ensure coordination and synergy with the main service providers in the area of intervention for prompt referral, follow up and information sharing;
  • Manage and      document     ,cases on the internal case management platform and ensure that any progress on action plan and any significant change in client’s psychosocial well-being and overall situation is timely and duly recorded and archive specific case ,management files ensuring confidentiality, accuracy and timeliness;
  • Monitor and follow up on the outcome of the assistance provided; 
  • Manage the hotline according to the internal procedures and under the Senior Caseworker’s supervision;
  • Ensure the provision of emergency protection cash or recurrent cash assistance for the most vulnerable beneficiaries, according to the needs of the  beneficiaries, the agreed criteria and the internal procedures and under the supervision of the Senior Caseworker;
  • Ensure that data protection protocol is respected;
  • Be available to participate in meetings and trainings in and outside INTERSOS      centres including case management meetings and case conferences meetings or any other meetings when required by the Senior case worker;   
  • Identify and report gaps in the availability and quality of services provision for clients in the target areas;
  • Accomplish any other task not listed here if necessary to the project's achievement.

 

Specific Duties:

  • (Can be adapted to the particularities of the job location and the requirement of the project. This section shall be revised whenever a new employee is hired).
  • Plan with the Senior CW to conduct home visits to assess the living conditions of the cases when appropriate, when needed, and if the person of concern gives her/his consent;
  • Ensure the preparation of accurate case plans for high, medium, and low-risk cases identified with clearly outcomes and time-frame.
  • Mapping of services in area of intervention and reporting information to Senior Case Workers
  • Advocate with different institutions and services providers to help the beneficiaries to access needed resources and services through referrals
  • Implementation of case management in the intervention location in accordance with all CM steps and related tools and procedures as defined through INTERSOS Protection Strategy. addressing high, medium, and low risk cases and sharing with Senior case worker for possible intervention
  • Participate and collaborate in other activities (recreational, psychosocial, awareness, emotional support groups) conducted in the center or outside when requested by the supervisors.
  • Support the organization of specific events or activities inside or outside the centres.
  • Monitoring and Reporting:
  • Provide daily and weekly updates to the Senior Case Worker about new cases assessed;
  • Contribute to the update of the Intersos case management system.
  • Support the Senior C.W on the elaboration of the weekly report to the PM, POCM and DPM.
  • Ensure quality data collection and reporting on INTERSOS internal platform.

 

Education:

University Degree in a related field e.g., Social Work, Psychology or equivalent
