Child Protection Case Worker

Duties and responsibilities: - The Child Protection Case Worker (CP CW) under the supervision of and in coordination with the Protection Officer will be responsible for managing the CP database and the CP Case Management component of Beirut Office or in one of the 3 targeted districts of Mount Lebanon Office (Aley, Badbaa, Chouf). - In coordination with the Social Workers identifies children of concern in the INTERSOS Centres (Child Friendly Spaces and/or Community Centers) liaising directly with other service providers present in the area (health and /or legal providers, etc.) developing service mapping and functional referral pathways. - Serves as Focal Point between the INTERSOS Centre, the multi-sector service providers and the Syrian refugee and host Lebanese Community. - Conducts interviews, needs assessment and Best Interest Assessments (BIA), develops in collaboration with the Protection Officer individual case management action plans and indicates cases for BID and/or FTR, ensures implementation, referrals, follow-up and case closures (if and when appropriate) in a timely manner. - The CP CW ensures regular monitoring of the Child Well Being with follow-up and reviews of children’s files. - Supports cases of vulnerable children and children at risk, including counseling and case management services. - Supports the CP social workers team as well as the Mobile Team Community Mobilizers (for both CP and Gender Based Violence-GBV projects) organizing awareness sessions and information sharing to the community. - Works in close collaboration with the Psychologist to develop adapted and contextualized CP awareness messages to parents, families, key actors and community (host and refugee). - Ensures children under her/his responsibility are not exposed to any form of harm or stress during the individual meeting, following the 4 guiding principles: respect, confidentiality, non-discrimination and safety. - Assists in developing a plan and supports the activities with children in the Child Friendly Spaces (wherever CFSs are available) or in other identified premises. - Reports progress achieved and provides feed back of cases on weekly and/or monthly basis. - Ensures all Child Protection principles are understood and followed up correctly in the INTERSOS Centers - Builds and maintains partnerships and collaboration with other CP partners and relevant stakeholders. - Performs further related duties requested by his supervisor. Skills/Competences: • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with demonstrated ability to tailor language, tone, style and format to match the audience; • Familiarity with case-management systems and databases, such as Excel • Familiarity with human rights and protection issues; • Excellent organizational skills, independent, disciplined, with initiative and an ability to work under pressure and to prioritize work; • Knowledge and understanding of the Middle East context and specifically Syria is desirable; • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively in a multicultural environment; • Ability to treat persons of concern with dignity, respect and confidentiality; • Ability to handle sensitive situations diplomatically • Flexibility is expected in order to respond to the ever-evolving situation
