Purpose/objective of the position:
The Community mobilizer is responsible for supporting INTERSOS community services project team (community centres) with community outreach through mobilization and awareness and support community led processes by engaging a team of ROVs in identifying needs/gaps in the community related to protection in Central/West Bekaa and Rashaya.
Responsibilities/duties:
Plan and organise awareness sessions in and out of the CCs in coordination with CC team leader social worker.
- Prepare a monthly work plan for awareness session, including target groups and topics.
- Depending on the topic, involve protection monitors, case workers and social workers, or external specialised actors, in facilitating the sessions.
- Prepare and organise all logistic aspects of the awareness sessions.
- Ensure weekly and monthly reports on the conducted awareness sessions.
Liaise with the refugee outreach volunteers (ROVs) located in their area for activities and information sharing, in coordination with the ROV coordinator, aimed at ensuring a link between the communities, the CCs and protection monitors.
- Make sure that ROVs are invited to attend the awareness sessions.
- Facilitate regular meetings with ROVs for updates and information sharing, during which:
protection monitors can identify needs and discuss proposed solutions, identifying priority issues
the community mobilizers can understand urgent awareness raising needs at the community level on certain social topics
- Cooperate with the animators in development of a clear work plan for the community services and community mobilization activities.
- Assist the community in obtaining information and knowledge of and access to available relevant services through ensuring regular coordination meetings with ROVs and communities.
- Ensure weekly and monthly reports on the activities conducted with and by ROVs in the target area.
Work as integral team member of the CCs, with the team leader social worker and social worker:
- Cooperate with the TL social worker and social worker at the CC for the development of a clear work plan (monthly and weekly) for the community services and community mobilization activities.
- Work with the social worker and TL social worker and help where needed in the implementation of activities at the CC, including registration of attendances - support the help desk, if others are busy at the CC.
General:
- Develop trust, tolerance and co-operation among community members;
- Encourage and stimulate full participation by all community members with special attention to those who are usually forgotten, marginalized and overlooked in community decision making;
