Field Assistant

JOB DESCRIPTION/PURPOSE INTERSOS is seeking qualified candidates that shall be responsible for coordinating and organising the overall deployment of the teams of enumerators in the field, training them and assessing the quality of the data collected at household /shops level, reporting to the Project Manager on a daily basis on issues and targets. The Field Assistant will also be in charge of INTERSOS representation and coordination at field level. The FA shall be responsible of supporting the planning of the implementation activities related to WFP Direct food assistance project in North Bekaa area and to support in conducting the activities if needed. In addition, the FA shall participate in all activities related to the Food security and Livelihood sectors upon the request of line manager.   Duty station : Baalbak Working area: North Bekaa (including Aarsal and Mashareaa Al Qaa).   Generic Duties: Objective 1: Fulfilling Distribution activities and related tasks: -          Organizing the distribution of PINS/E-cards: identifying distribution centers, lists preparation, informing beneficiaries, preparing all needed materials. -          Distributing the PINs/E-cards during distribution days and ensuring that the distribution process is organized. -          Helping in different tasks within the distribution as assigned by line manager (screening, crowd control, and beneficiaries' guidance, briefing sessions and receiving complaints). -          Distributing any other aid items upon request by the line manager.   Objective 2: Monitoring and Evaluating program related activities: -          Follow up on conducting shop monitoring visits to ensure that there are no misuses related to shops performance, prices, and use of e-cards, availability and quality of food items. -          Organize the assignment of different activities: receiving the lists, preparing lists, identifying locations, selecting daily targets (for example by location) for the enumerators, etc…; -          Follow up on conducting FSOM visits for the beneficiaries and non-beneficiaries. -          Follow up on registered complaints of refugees in the coverage area. -          Follow up on maintaining constant contact with beneficiaries to evaluate the impact of the project (FGDs and individual meetings). -          Monitoring other activities upon request.   Objective 3: Supporting different tasks related to  food security and livelihoods: -          Conducting referral visits to an identified number of cases in different geographical areas once needed. -          Ensuring coordination with colleagues and different actors to maintain good referral system. -          Conducting household interviews, key informant interviews and focus groups discussions to identify new project ideas upon request -          Participating in assessments, selection and training to shop owners if needed. -          Coordinate, manage and guarantee that host municipalities are aware of our activities in their area, ensuring that the relevant authorities are constantly informed of our movements in due time; -          Performing all other necessary actions for the functioning and success of the projects in order to deliver assistance to the designated beneficiaries;   Objective 4: Reporting and strengthening the coordination internally and externally: -          Collecting weekly reports from Enumerators. -          Reporting progress of the work, HR issues, security concerns and other identified food security and livelihoods issues to the Project Manager. -          Supporting the Project Manager in preparing the monthly reports. -          Supporting the Enumerators and follow up on developing their reporting skills. -          Analysing the collected information and working on producing reports that can enrich the reporting and project development. -          Participating in the improvement of the implementation methodology through discussing the weak points, and proposing improvements.   Objective 5: Supervise Enumerators: -          Plan and supervise the activities of Enumerators together with Project manager. -          Ensure good understanding of project activities and objectives by Enumerators through representing and explaining the project. -          Schedule team meetings when necessary to discuss any updates, challenges or tackle any problems. -          Follow up on the daily reports of Enumerators and doing the first check-up. -          Identify training needs for the project staff and report to the Project Manager. -          Train Enumerators together with the Project Manager for better implementation of project activities. -          Manage, plan and lead his/her team with their activities, resolving internal conflicts, and making sure that time and resources from his/her team are always optimised. -          Make absolutely sure that the team respects the time required for data collection and make quality control verification to check the accuracy of the collected data.   Objective 6: Representing INTERSOS in Meetings and Other Tasks: -          Support the Project Manager in food security and livelihoods related internal and external meetings in Bekaa and Beirut. -          Support the project manager by managing the team, planning activities and other tasks where necessary. -          Be committed to participate to any other task in order to achieve the project overall objective.     Level of studies: BA or equivalent education in relevant field. Professional Competencies: - 2 years relevant experience required in humanitarian action /social work. - Previous experience in humanitarian Work (preferable in food security / cash transfers or livelihoods). - Experience with participatory fieldwork, methodologies, monitoring and reporting; - Computer literacy (Excel, Word and outlook). - Good Reporting and supervisory skills - Driving License - Excellent knowledge and understanding of local communities and the geographical area.
