National Water & Sanitation Expert

Purpose/objective of the position: The Water & Sanitation Engineer will be responsible for assisting the organization and specifically support the International WASH Specialist with the overall planning and coordination of water, sanitation and hygiene activities in the project sites across Bekaa, in accordance to the allocated resources and timeframe.   Responsibilities/duties: Assist the International WASH specialist in designing, organizing, planning, following up and supervising all the project technical activities regarding WASH; Under the supervision of the International WASH specialist, liaise and coordinate all the technical activities with the local authorities, the water bureau, the community representatives and other agencies engaged in the WASH sector across the project sites. Contribute to identify new interventions in the Water & Sanitation sector through regular need assessment; Participate to sectoral coordination meetings at local and national level when requested by the International WASH specialist; Under the supervision of the International WASH specialist, organise, manage and supervise the WASH operations; Under the supervision of the International WASH specialist, negotiate, supervise and coordinate eventual contractors and suppliers of the WASH items; Supervise and monitor the Hygiene promotion activities in the field; Collect, analyse and interpret all technical data concerning the WASH activities to prepare reports as required by the International WASH Specialist; Assist the water quality testing procedure and transportation (bacteriological and chemical quality); Under the supervision of the International WASH specialist, identify and report on eventual training and technical support needs of local water authorities; Accomplish any other task not here listed if necessary to the projects achievement.     Skills/Competences: A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or other scientific/ technical sectors. A minimum of 3 years demonstrable competence and experience in management of WASH integrated/community-based context, for international or local development organisations; Demonstrable understanding of WASH services delivery in emergency. Ability to coordinate and manage the given tasks and achieve target deliverables and outputs; Excellent ability to manage timelines and meet deadlines. Excellent computer skills  (Microsoft Office) and full command of English are mandatory. Working knowledge of AUTOCAD Working knowledge of EPANET - desirable
