Project Staff/community Mobilizer/outreach Worker

Purpose/objective of the position: The Community mobilizer/outreach worker will be responsible for community engagement and empowerment in the assigned area through mobilization, awareness, and monitoring and outreach activities.   Responsibilities/duties: Liaise and maintain daily relationships between INTERSOS, community’s representatives, local leaders and grassroots organizations in the assigned area and provide them with overall orientation on the project; Organize on be-weekly basis localized coordination meeting with other agencies operating in same area for information sharing. Monitor, survey, assess the target population in the assigned area at household and group level through daily home and field visits; Assist the project target community in obtaining information and knowledge of and access to available relevant services through outreach activities; Encourage and stimulate full participation at the planned socio/recreational activities with special attention, where possible and appropriate, to youth, adolescents, women, elderly and other who are marginalized and overlooked in community decision making; Work to identify and support community focal points/settlement representatives; to join in need assessment, participatory monitoring and follow-up activities; Design, develop and timely submit to the Information manager daily report of the community mobilization activities implemented. Timely contribute to the area weekly report consolidate by the Senior Social worker and submitted to the National Protection officer. Manage and well maintain the assigned vehicle and the equipment for community mobilization and outreach.   Skills/Competences: Previous experience in Community Development Projects; Ability to work independently and under pressure; Ability and willingness to travel across the assigned project areas at short notice and spend extended periods with communities; Strong diplomatic, interpersonal, listening and communication skills; Driving licence required; Basic IT knowledge and skills; Experience of implementing participatory monitoring, reporting & evaluation and community assessments is desirable. English working knowledge desirable.
