INTERSOS is a non-profit humanitarian aid organization that works to bring assistance to people in danger, victims of natural disasters and armed conflicts. Job Title : Protection Analysis Specialist

Job Purpose:
The Protection Analysis Specialist will be under the direct supervision of the Protection Coordinator, and work closely with the Protection and MEAL departments and the Programme Coordinator while working on strategic objectives. The Protection Analysis Specialist will be responsible for analyzing data generated through protection interventions to develop evidence-based information to inform programmatic learning, programme development and Inter Agency and Protection Sector advocacy. The position will play a crucial role in supporting INTERSOS Lebanon to enhance comprehensive analysis and reporting on the quality and impact of protection activities and contextual protection needs and gaps, while improving the quality and scope of protection trend analysis and response planning through the development of protection trends reports.
Generic Duties:
- Process and analyze INTERSOS protection activity and protection monitoring data.
- Generate evidence/findings and learning for specific protection related outputs, advocacy efforts and internal programme impact analysis.
- Produce protection monitoring and trend analysis reports, key messages and other thematic research papers as designated by the Protection Coordinator.
Specific Duties:
Data Analysis and Management
- Responsible for conducting protection data analysis to provide information highlighting gaps and major trends in Protection and bring it to the attention of the Protection Coordinator.
- Responsible for regular protection analysis of qualitative and quantitative data gathered across projects and bring it to the attention of the Programme Coordinator to support holistic and comparative monitoring and evidence gathering on the implementation and impact of activities, which can be fed back to project teams.
Reporting
- Responsible for drafting and supporting the development of statistical and analytical protection trend reports, including those related to monthly snapshots, quarterly snapshots and as required for proposal development, to highlight the needs, challenges, and impact of targeted interventions on a monthly and quarterly basis
- Support the Protection Coordinator in the development of position papers, advocacy outputs and other information products to inform the response and advocacy of INTERSOS in Lebanon.
- Responsible for reviewing Protection Monitoring, case management, Outreach Volunteer and activity reports, and activity monitoring reports to generate key learning and recommendation reports with regards to key activity indicators (outputs and outcomes) across bases.
Tools Development
- Support the Protection Coordination in designing and refining tools to facilitate improved monitoring of protection trends, protection incidents and the identification of new and emerging needs among vulnerable groups in areas of intervention and lead on the coordination of additional/ad-hoc data collection exercises based on protection trends observed.
- Support the continuous mainstreaming and collection of key performance indicators across interventions to provide meaningful data contributions to INTERSOS’ protection response.
- In close coordination with the M & E team and IMO, make recommendations for the implementation of any required improvements to data management processes for trends analysis purposes.
Data Protection
- Support the Protection Coordinator, Country Information Management Officer and MEAL Manager in the review of information collection processes, practices and database access across project interventions to ensure compliance with data protection standards and relevant data-sharing agreements, including analysis of safe and confidential storage and beneficiary consent.
- Ensure data protection protocols are followed for all Protection data stored both online and offline, especially ensuring sensitive and identifiable data is stored is a responsible manner and is not accessible to anyone not ‘in the need to know’.
Coordination and Networking
- Participation in relevant meetings as requested by the Protection Coordinator.
- Assist the Protection Coordinator in presentations of findings to internal and external audiences, as required.
Competencies: (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)
Professional Competencies:
- Minimum 5 years of relevant working experience in the implementation of humanitarian protection activities within an international NGO.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in project reporting and data management, preferably in the scope of protection, including the development of outcome and impact related indicators and/or data collection and analysis on such indicators.
- Demonstrated knowledge of software analytics, information management and data visualisation tools including KOBO/Power BI and Google Data Studio.
- Excellent reporting and writing skills and experience developing information products.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications, including Word and Excel.
- Sound and proven understanding of applying protection principles and standards to data collection and reporting.
- Demonstrated knowledge and commitment to humanitarian principles, gender equity and protection.
