Social Worker

Job Purpose: The Social worker will provide supervision of informal education activities and awareness sessions for involved communities. He/She will be supervised by the Project Coordinator and supported by an Education expert   Generic Duties: Conduct a variety of structured activities (recreational, psychosocial and non-formal education) within the center or outside, catering to the needs of children of different ages and genders and accordingly to the center activities weekly schedule; Conduct peer-led focus groups discussions, informal skill training and awareness sessions with children, youth, accordingly to the weekly schedule; Facilitate the participation of all the segments of the target population to the planned activities, notably the most vulnerable ones (refugees, local community, youth, women, elderly, minority members, people with disabilities etc.), ensuring that proper attention is paid to specific emotional and physical needs; Plan and design the PSS activities in collaboration with INTERSOS Senior social worker, the Psychologist, the PSS coordinator and all the team members, accordingly to INTERSOS guidelines on PSS activities; Engage the volunteers in the planned socio-recreational activities; Maintain daily attendance registers and a weekly and monthly inventory sheets for each activity conducted; Maintain and fill properly any distribution list or attendance lists for the activities conducted or the distribution done, under the supervision of the Project Coordinator; Informs the supervisors about any difficulty met in INTERSOS activities implementation; Be update about all new information send by the Project Coordinator concerning the project, the context and the beneficiaries; Be available to participate in meetings and trainings in and outside the centers and/or in Intersos Beirut office when requested; Accomplish any other assignments given by supervisors or the Project Coordinator.                                            Reporting: Provide daily basic information about project activities and report on a weekly basis to the PC.     Specific Duties: (Can be adapted to the particularities of the job location and the requirement of the project. This section shall be revised whenever a new employee is hired). facilitate and encourage the participation of children and youth to the non-formal education activities, notably the most vulnerable ones, ensuring proper attention to their specific emotional and social needs / difficulties ensure volunteers and children/youth under her/his responsibility are not exposed to any form of harm or stress during the activities ensure the adoption of minimum standard required in the locations where the activities are implemented; plan, organize and run / lead / implement and supervise: Outreach activities in collaboration with other staff members in order to identify beneficiaries, to provide information on services available and to implement NFE activities; PSS activities; Awareness sessions and campaigns; 5.  identify and refer vulnerable cases on the base of the referral pathways adopted by INTERSOS; 7.  ensure that the provided material is properly used, kept and cleaned;   Education: University Degree in Social work.   Competencies:  (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)   Professional Competencies: -       A minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible professional experience is required. -       Strong observation, analytical and listening skills -       The capacity to absorb legal/procedural information -       The ability to negotiate/mediate/interpret on behalf of service users   Behavioural competencies: -       Excellent Communication skills -       Client Orientation approach -       The social worker should have a compassionate, caring, and non-judgmental personality. Punctuality and respect for applicable rules and procedures; -       Ethical and transparent decision-making; -       Respect of confidentiality and data protection protocols; -       Self-motivation, goal/result-orientation and team work; -       Flexibility, tolerance and maturity. -       Patience and the ability to remain calm in a crisis -       Flexibility to adapt to new roles, tasks and situations   Languages: -                      Fluency in (written and spoken) Arabic and English;
