Job Purpose:
The Social worker will be part of the People with Specific Needs Mobile Team- composed by 1 Social Worker, 1 psychologist and 1 physical therapist- who will rove in Mount Lebanon and provide mobile Psycho Social Support services, activities, awareness sessions and referrals to specialized services for elderly and people with disabilities and their caregivers since these categories, due to low mobility and impairments, have difficulties in reaching the Community Centers and are left out of accessing services
Generic Duties:
Conduct a variety of structured activities (recreational, psychosocial and non-formal education) within the center or outside, catering to the needs of children of different ages and genders and accordingly to the center activities weekly schedule;
Conduct peer-led focus groups discussions, informal skill training and awareness sessions with children, youth, men and women, accordingly to the weekly schedule;
Facilitate the participation of all the segments of the target population to the planned activities, notably the most vulnerable ones (refugees, local community, youth, women, elderly, minority members, people with disabilities etc.), ensuring that proper attention is paid to specific emotional and physical needs;
Plan and design the PSS activities in collaboration with the Senior social worker, the Psychologist, the PSS coordinator and all the team members, accordingly to INTERSOS guidelines on PSS activities;
Engage the volunteers in the planned socio-recreational activities;
Maintain daily attendance registers and a weekly and monthly inventory sheets for each activity conducted;
Maintain and fill properly any distribution list or attendance lists for the activities conducted or the distribution done, under the supervision of the Project Coordinator and Psychologist;
Informs the supervisors about any difficulty met in INTERSOS activities implementation;
Be update about all new information send by the Project Coordinator concerning the project, the context and the beneficiaries;
Be available to participate in meetings and trainings in and outside the centers and/or in Intersos Beirut office when requested;
Accomplish any other assignments given by supervisors or the Project Coordinator.
Reporting:
Provide daily basic information about project activities and report on a weekly basis to the Senior SW.
Specific Duties:
(Can be adapted to the particularities of the job location and the requirement of the project. This section shall be revised whenever a new employee is hired).
facilitate and encourage the participation of PwSN (elderly and disabled), notably the most vulnerable ones, ensuring proper attention to their specific emotional and social needs / difficulties
ensure PwSN under her/his responsibility are not exposed to any form of harm or stress during the activities
ensure the adoption of minimum standard required in the locations where the activities are implemented;
plan, organize and run / lead / implement:
Outreach activities in collaboration with other staff members in order to identify beneficiaries and to provide information on services available;
emotional support groups and Focus Group Discussion (FGD);
recreational and de-stressing activities;
5. planning and conducting awareness sessions under the supervision of the Project Coordinator
6. identify and refer vulnerable cases on the base of the referral pathways adopted by INTERSOS;
7. ensure that the provided material is properly used, kept and cleaned;
8. conduct PSS activities such as gardening, planting and sports groups for people with disabilities and elderly
Education:
University Degree in Social work.
Competencies: (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)
Professional Competencies:
- A minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible professional experience is required.
- Strong observation, analytical and listening skills
- The capacity to absorb legal/procedural information
- The ability to negotiate/mediate/interpret on behalf of service users
- Driving License
