Child Protection Project Assistant

Overall Responsibility

The Child Protection Assistant will be responsible for implementing the Child Protection Programme under the supervision of the Child Protection Officer. He/ She will work to ensure that activities agreed under the partnership agreements with local partners/ Faith Leaders are carried out and monitored and that timely reporting occurs. The Child Protection Assistant will support the overall capacity building and training activities for partners’ staff to ensure a quality implementation with the beneficiaries.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Under the supervision of Child Protection Officer the Assistant will play a critical role in:

  1. Supporting the identification of suitable sites/location to set up and conduct activities.
  2. Supporting, training and coaching for partners’ staff and animators.
  3. Conducting outreach activities in the implementation areas.
  4. Delivering/ supporting the delivery of psychosocial support activities for children and adults.
  5. Leading the set up and implementation of child protection networks, through community mobilization and other information awareness sessions and training.
  6. Ensuring safe identification and referrals of beneficiaries to the available resources including the case management services.
  7. Supporting in documenting data and progress of implementation based on the MEAL plan.
  8. Particular attention should be given to the building of a strong relationship with the local stakeholders.
  9. Ensuring constant reporting to the line manager.
  10. Adherence to Save the Children policies and procedures
  11. Complying with IRL  policies and practice with respect to child protection, code of conduct, health and safety, equal opportunities and other relevant policies and procedures.
  12. In agreement with the line manager, perform other duties within reason (in line with your skills and experience)

 

 

 

Person Specification

Experience / Education/Skills- Essential               

  • At least two years’ experience in working with children and community mobilization, preferably in an (I) NGO .
  • Bachelor’s degree Social Work or related sciences, Development/Humanitarian Studies.
  • Understanding of national development issues.
  • Ability to analyze information, identify challenges and ensure mitigations.
  • Strength in interpersonal and communication skills. 

Language                                                            

  • Fluency in English & Arabic (written and spoken).

IT skills                                                                                

  • Proficiency in MS office and the ability to use software necessary for project management and reporting.

General Skills                                                   

  • Very Good technical reporting skills.
  • Strong planning, communication and coordination skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and within a team.
  • High spirit of help and assisting people in need.
  • Understanding of a comprehensive approach on disability issues and vulnerability in term of psychosocial consequences
  • Ability to propose workable solutions and identify their implications (positive and negative) adapted to the psychosocial and basic needs of beneficiaries
