Education Project Officer

Overall Responsibility

  • The Project Officer is responsible for the effective operational management of education-related project components under the direct supervision of the Head of Programmes.
  • Lead the implementation of education activities in line with project objectives, adhering to the full Project Cycle Management (PCM) approach: planning, organisation, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation.
  • Ensure that all project activities are delivered efficiently, achieving both qualitative and quantitative targets in accordance with organisational and donor standards.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

1. Project Management

  • Oversee all aspects of day-to-day project implementation, including logistics, administration, security considerations, and community engagement with beneficiaries.
  • Regularly review, update, and track the project work plan to ensure alignment with agreed objectives and timelines.
  • Ensure activities are implemented on schedule and meet defined quality and output standards.
  • Identify training needs and coordinate, facilitate, or deliver capacity-building initiatives for project assistants and partners, including ongoing coaching and support.
  • Maintain flexibility and readiness to travel frequently, including extended stays in remote project locations or as directed by the Head of Programmes.

2. Reporting

  • Collect, analyse, and report data on the overall situation of beneficiaries, with particular focus on those targeted by the project.
  • Maintain consistent written and verbal communication with the Head of Programmes.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive project documentation, including monthly reports, attendance records, beneficiary databases, success stories, and decision logs.
  • Provide timely updates on implementation challenges and recommend solutions.
  • Submit daily updates, as well as weekly and monthly progress reports, in line with agreed work plans and targets.
  • Report and document any potential or perceived breaches of neutrality, including conducting basic analysis and fact-finding.
  • Prepare and circulate minutes of coordination and staff meetings to relevant stakeholders.

3. Monitoring and Evaluation

  • Conduct regular field monitoring visits to ensure effective and smooth implementation of project activities.
  • Coordinate closely with the Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Officer, facilitating access to documentation, beneficiaries, and project sites as required.
  • Support data collection, verification, and learning processes to improve programme quality and impact.

5. Logistics, Finance, and Administration

  • Coordinate closely with logistics, finance, and administration teams to ensure timely availability of resources required for project implementation.
  • Ensure compliance with organisational and donor policies and procedures, including procurement, supplier management, and stock control.
  • Maintain effective coordination with relevant departments in line with organisational hierarchy and processes.
  • Ensure adherence to HR policies, including attendance, leave management, and reporting obligations.
  • Monitor project budget expenditure and forecasts regularly using the AX system, ensuring financial discipline and accuracy.
  • Coordinate with the media/communications department to support visibility and documentation of project activities.

6. Security

  • Strictly adhere to organisational security policies, guidelines, and instructions.
  • Promptly report any security incidents or concerns to the designated security focal point, ensuring proper documentation and follow-up.

7. Communication and Networking

  • Engage directly with children, families, and stakeholders in project locations, ensuring strong field presence and community trust.
  • Act as the organisation’s focal point at the community level, representing its mission and values professionally.
  • Attend relevant sector working groups, coordination platforms, and meetings in consultation with the Head of Programmes.
  • Support mapping and analysis of local resources and stakeholders in areas of operation.
  • Build and maintain strong, professional relationships with partners, donors, government officials, particularly MEHE and Education sector and relevant civil society actors.
  • Identify potential partners and contribute to partnership development discussions with the Head of Programmes.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, Business Administration, Project Management, Development Studies, or related field
  • 2–3 years of relevant experience in project support and coordination
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent English written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other related tools
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and work under pressure
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills

Position will be based in Beirut with frequent travel to the field locations.
