The ICT Assistant supports the ICT Coordinator in providing technical support to all IRL staff, helping develop and implement ICT standards and policies, and providing technology support and solutions to meet the needs of the organization. The ICT Assistant will help in the implementation and management of the software applications and hardware infrastructure that support IRL operations.

 

Role and responsibilities:

  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and update operating systems and user applications, and provide software and system troubleshooting and support.
  • Manage servers, and verify backup servers/systems.
  • Support the creation and management of various user accounts such as Windows

Domain, email, MS Dynamics AX 2009 and MS Skype for Business

To ensure that the appropriate levels of security are maintained while enabling

Users to complete their work effectively.

  • Manage security solutions, including firewall, anti-virus, and intrusion detection systems.
  • Monitor and maintain computer systems and networks.
  • Provide support, including procedural documentation and relevant reports.
  • Follow diagrams and written instructions to repair a fault or set up a system.
  • Prioritize and manage many open cases at one time.
  • Test and evaluate new technology.
  • Conduct electrical safety checks on computer equipment.
  • Follow Up with IRL Staff for records management and archiving data and documentation.
  • Maintain the office's IRL inventory for hardware and software (safeguarding media and licenses), including regular updates to the technical documentation of related IT networks.
  • When required, provide IT and Communication training to all end users to ensure productive use of existing and new systems.
  • Assist in the configuring, installing and troubleshooting network infrastructure including routers, wan optimizers, firewalls, gateways, access points, Vlans, etc.
  • Ensure that ICT problem recovery is done as quickly as possible and make regular system back-up.
  • Tests new software and hardware products; briefs users on basic operation and handling. Acts as system support for the Local Area Network (LAN) for the office including managing user accounts, setting up and managing multifunctional printers.
