Project Officer

Overall Responsibility

Project Officer is responsible to assist the Orphan & Child Welfare Coordinator in projects’ implementation activities and the Orphan Sponsorship Program “OSP” follow up and supervision.

 

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Plan, prepare and supervise the implementation of OCW activities including all aspects of the daily management, administration and logistics.
  2. Implement activities and ensure the good quality and quantity of the project/s outcomes.
  3. Monitor the partner OSP offices regarding the beneficiaries recording, the periodic reporting and requirements
  4. Identify and collect orphans’ data in need for support or close follow-up through home visits in different area of OCW implementation.
  5. Follow OCW reports including all updates, regular and annual report updates and when needed due the donors’ requests.
  6. Conduct field visits to beneficiaries and to track the payments’ distributions regularly and collecting the needed data.
  7. Conduct regular assessments and develop supportive new CNs and proposals based on the assessed needs.
  8. Conduct weekly and monthly reports on OCW implemented activities and control the budget of the project/s.
  9. Coordinate with the Admin, Finance and Logistics departments to ensure all needed inputs and tools for the operating.
  10. Develop and maintain positive relationships with the partner organization, key government officials, NGOs, INGOs, etc.
  11. Provide continued support to the project staff and local implementing partner in order to build their capacity in implementing and achieving results.  
  12. Ensure a strict adherence to IRL Orphan Sponsorship Policy/Procedure and Child Protection Policy, including respect for confidentiality and act in the best interests of the children.
  13. Follow the establishment and maintaining an effective filing system with recorded information and easily accessible.through both hard and soft copies.
  14. Perform any other task as assigned by the OCW Coordinator.

 

Child Protection Policy:

  1. Commit to respect the Islamic Relief Child Protection Policy
  2. Commit to ensure the best implementation possible of the Child Protection Policy
  3. Commit to respond to any child abuse concerns following the procedures and guidelines on dealing with child’s allegation or suspicion of abuse.

 

Person Specifications                                                                                                                                   

Experience / Education/Skills- Essential              

  • A bachelor degree of Business Management, Social Science (or any other related field) from an accredited University.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of relative experience in a similar position, preferred- with NGOs/ INGOs.
  • Experience in working with Children, solid knowledge in child protection field
  • Experience in managing humanitarian projects, full comprehension of project management cycle.

Ability To

  • Work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Read, comprehend and interpret written materials of moderate to complex difficulty.
  • Records management systems (both automated and paper files) to ensure accurate maintenance of files and ease of retrieval.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.

Language                                                                            

  • Fluency in English & Arabic (written and spoken).

IT skills                                                                                

  • Proficiency in MS office and the ability to use software necessary for project management and reporting.

General Skills                                                   

  • V. Good technical reporting skills.
  • Strong planning, communications and coordination skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and within a team.
  • Diplomacy, tact & negotiation skills.
  • Report writing skills.
