Field Officer

A. Education & Training Component:

  • Coordinate and logistically support the organization of teacher training workshops, ensuring all arrangements are in place.
  • Act as a liaison between the project team, school principals, and teachers to facilitate smooth communication and participation.
  • Monitor and report on the attendance and initial feedback from training sessions.

B. Infrastructure & Rehabilitation Component:

  • Conduct regular field visits to school rehabilitation sites to monitor progress against work plans and schedules.
  • Provide basic technical oversight of construction work, ensuring it aligns with the agreed-upon designs, bills of quantities (BoQs), and quality standards.
  • Identify and report any technical issues, construction delays, or quality concerns to the Project Manager promptly.
  • Verify the quality of materials delivered on-site against project specifications.
  • Support the documentation of rehabilitation work through progress photos and site reports.

C. General Field Operations:

  • Prepare and submit timely and accurate field reports on both training and infrastructure activities.
  • Collect required documents from field.
  • Maintain strong relationships with community stakeholders, including school management, parents, and local authorities.
  • Assist in the collection of data for monitoring and evaluation purposes.
  • Flag potential risks or challenges in the field to the Project Manager for timely mitigation.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • A degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or a related field. Candidates with a strong background in social work or education and proven experience in construction supervision will also be considered.
  • Proven experience in community mobilization, training coordination, or field monitoring.
  • Practical experience in supervising small to medium-scale construction or rehabilitation projects is a significant advantage.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Basic ability to read technical drawings and BoQs. Understanding of construction principles, materials, and quality control.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively with teachers, community members, and contractors.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Proactive and able to identify issues in the field and propose practical solutions.
  • Computer literacy, particularly in Microsoft Word and Excel
