The UN in the Arab World Program at the Issam Fares Institute of Public Policy and International Affairs is seeking a six month full-time (or part-time) Research Assistant. This research position will primarily involve work on two main projects, a book project and a mapping project. The position will include conducting a review of available scholarly and technical knowledge related to the United Nations in the Arab World, such as peacekeeping and peacemaking, humanitarian aid, and intervention. The review will include both academic and non-academic resources in two languages: English, and Arabic. Following the review of existing resources, a preliminary analysis will be conducted to identify key knowledge gaps, scholars and institutions, and areas that are well documented. All documented material will be part of the program’s database.
Research will be conducted both online and offline through a systematic search of academic and non-academic literature produced both from within and outside the Arab world. This position requires excellent writing and analytical skills. The position will also include consultative meetings and events to support the research.
