Capacity Building for CSOs – Training for Fundraising & Sustainability-Readvertised

The Power of Youth: Unlocking Potential for Inter- and Intra-Communal Conflict Prevention in Lebanon” is a project funded by the European Union, implemented by Mada Association, Jafra, and WeWorld.
The project aims to contribute to conflict prevention and peacebuilding in Lebanon through youth mobilization, by empowering youth and strengthening their role as active agents of change in their communities.

Its primary outcome is to increase the individual and collective capacities and participation of Youth-Led Civil Society Organizations and Groups in conflict prevention and resolutions initiatives to foster inter and intra-communal peace in Greater Beirut and Tripoli, Lebanon.

In line with the project’s objective to enhance the effectiveness, sustainability, and overall impact of local CSOs, Jafra and Mada Association aim to focus on strengthening the institutional frameworks and technical competencies of local CSOs operating in Lebanon.

The aim of the mission is to deliver comprehensive, pre-developed training sessions, aimed at strengthening the institutional capacities of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs). The training will focus on the following key area:

Fundraising and Sustainability – Strengthening CSOs’ ability to develop diversified fundraising strategies, build long-term financial sustainability, and establish effective systems for resource mobilization and donor engagement.

The training will be conducted over four training days. Each training day will consist of 6 hours. The program is scheduled to begin during December 2025 in (Beirut and Tripoli).

Main Tasks and Responsibilities:

Meet with Jafra and Mada teams to discuss the mission’s objectives and expectations.

Deliver the 2 training sessions to assigned groups (each training day up to [6 hours]) including the tasks mainly below:Design and deliver interactive training sessions on:

Fundamentals of fundraising and resource mobilization in the CSO context.

Developing diversified fundraising strategies, including grants, individual giving, corporate partnerships, events, and online fundraising.

Building donor relations and crafting compelling proposals and communications.

Facilitate practical exercises to support CSOs in:

Mapping potential funding sources relevant to their mission and programs.

Developing fundraising action plans aligned with their strategic goals and organizational capacity.

Strengthening their value proposition and donor engagement strategies.

Provide tools and guidance on:

Budget development for funding proposals.

Monitoring and reporting mechanisms to meet donor expectations.

Establishing or improving internal systems for financial tracking, donor management, and sustainability planning.

Tailor training content to reflect the local fundraising landscape, funding trends, and organizational realities of participating CSOs.

Encourage peer learning and exchange of best practices and experiences in fundraising and financial sustainability.

Offer follow-up support through to review draft fundraising strategies or proposals and provide feedback as final session exercise.

Conduct pre- and post-training assessments to measure knowledge gains and identify areas requiring further capacity development.

Document training results and produce a final report summarizing key outcomes, participant progress, and recommendations for future support in fundraising and sustainability.

The language used in the training sessions must be simple, clear and culturally relevant, avoiding technical and complex content, to ensure it is easily understandable by CSO members.

Deliverables:

Share a detailed workshop agenda (by day and hour) a week prior to the training launch

Delivery of the full 4-days workshops (2 identical workshops, 2 days each).

Participant attendance sheets.

Pre and post-tests templates and results.

Prepare and share Training material/ curriculum (PowerPoint + handouts to the participants) taking into consideration that some attendees do not have advance English skills, so the PPT and training materials should be prepared in both languages.

Share tools with participants

Training Report at the end of the assignment. The report should contain narrative summary on the trainings conducted, pre and post comparison, expected and achieved results, recommendations

Requirements and Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Financial Management, Business Administration, Development Studies, Public Administration, or a related field.

A Master's degree or a TOT is a requirement.

Proven experience in delivering training on fundraising strategies, donor engagement, proposal writing, income generation, and financial sustainability for Civil Society Organizations.

Strong understanding of funding landscapes, including institutional donors, philanthropic giving, private sector partnerships, and social enterprise models.

Knowledge of sustainability planning, including diversification of funding sources, long-term financial planning, and capacity-building for resource mobilization.

Prior experience working with CSOs or community-based organizations, particularly in contexts with limited or shifting donor support.

Excellent facilitation and communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex fundraising concepts for diverse participant profiles.

Familiarity with local, regional, and international fundraising practices, donor expectations, and reporting requirements.

Fluency in Arabic and English is required.

Experience in participatory training methods and tools for practical, hands-on learning is highly desirable.

 

 

 

Eligible Applicants:

The selection process will consist of two steps: a pre-selection based on technical experience and qualifications, followed by in-person or online interviews with the shortlisted candidates.

The financial offer should include transportation fees to the training venue, covering both possible locations

Location 1: Beirut

Location 2: Tripoli

The technical offer should include an outline/ table of content of the proposed training curriculum.

Timeline:

The consultant is expected to deliver the training sessions and submit the final report within six weeks of the training launching.

The final version of the report, along with supporting documents, should be delivered within one week after receiving feedback on the draft.

Financials:

  • All payments will be issued after completion of the training, finalizing all the deliverables and addressing the feedbacks, issuing service completion note and invoice.
  • All payments will be made via cash letters.
  • Please submit financial offers with a ceiling of 600 USD, inclusive of transportation for the two workshops.

 

All submissions not following these guidelines will be automatically rejected.
