Main Responsibilities of the Position
- Follows the MEHE teaching curriculum and enhances it as needed, including creating and distributing teaching materials and activity sheets.
- Plans and conducts lessons with a balance of instruction, demonstration, and hands-on work, allowing students to observe, ask questions, and explore.
- Organizes daily and monthly lesson plans.
- Evaluates students' learning progress with well-designed tools at the start and end of the school year, along with periodic assessments.
- Attends trainings for teaching skills, with a follow-up mentoring and observations by JRS.
- Ensures a safe and effective teaching and learning environment.
- Adapts lessons to address the needs and abilities of each student.
- Participates in weekly tutor meetings and attends parents' meetings as needed.
- Adheres to JRS policies at the educational centre.
- Maintains a safe classroom environment.
- Uses differentiated instruction strategies to address various learning styles and needs.
- Completes checklists for signs of learning disabilities.
- Adjusts the curriculum to accommodate diverse student needs, including providing extra resources, modifying assignments, or using alternative assessments.
- Sends modified assessment copies to Education Officers and Inclusion Officers and completes the assessment modification checklist.
- Prepares Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with disabilities in collaboration with the IEP team.
- Maintains daily routines and uses positive reinforcement to manage challenging behaviours.
- Promotes an inclusive environment by using inclusive language, displaying diverse materials, and addressing any discrimination or exclusion.
- Attends trainings and stay informed about the latest research related to inclusive education.
- Collaborates with Education Officers and Field Special Educator on inclusion activities and events.
Qualifications, Skills, and Attributes
- Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education plus teaching diploma is an asset.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
