Country Inclusion Officer

 

Development and formalization of inclusion strategy

  • In collaboration with the Country and Regional Education Officers, Social Worker Supervisor, M&E Officer, and Regional Programmes Officer, develop an inclusion strategy for JRS, adapt an integrated program, and implement the best practices related to inclusion mainstreaming.
  • Establish partnerships with key actors in the project locations to further improve access to specialized services for children with disabilities and attend all relevant working group meetings.
  • Conduct an accessibility assessment of JRS education centers, and submit an assessment report with recommendations.
  • Promote learning exchanges, dialogues, and documentation with Project Office, Country Office, as well as Regional Office.

Development and implementation of inclusion tools and practices

  • Develop and coach teams on technical guidelines, tools, and action plans that ensure inclusion at project, programme, and country levels.
  • Support the tutors, social workers, and home visit team members to identify the resources needed to meet the needs of all children with emphasis on children with learning difficulties and disabilities, families and communities.
  • In coordination with the Social Worker Supervisor, support the implementation of the JRS referral system, especially for beneficiaries in need of specialized support, including the identification of reliable services and suppliers who could provide needed technical aids.
  • Assess program needs of students with significant disabilities
  • Develop and evaluate student individualized education programs with team and parent input.

Effective staff capacity building on inclusion and reporting

  • Identify training and development needs of staff and partners on inclusion through conducting initial and regular capacity assessments.
  • Develop and deliver a training module on inclusive education for JRS Lebanon education teams at the four project sites.
  • Support staff (core staff and tutors) in strengthening their skills and technical capabilities in inclusive approaches through training, ongoing mentoring, coaching, and other methods.
  • Conduct regular follow-up visits at each school and education center to support the school principals and teachers in improving their inclusive practices through observation and coaching.
  • Work closely with the M&E Officer on documenting best practices and lessons learned from projects

 

 

Competencies and skills

  • Education degree: Bachelor’s degree (minimum)
  • Education degree details: Special Education
  • Experience requirements: 5 years (minimum); work experience as a special education teacher; work experience at the programmatic level, e.g., inclusion specialist, programme manager, etc.; work experience with students with different types of disabilities.
  • Knowledge of the local special education laws and regulations
  • Computer literate (Microsoft Office)
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
  • Languages: Arabic (very good); English (very good); French (good)

Note: The officer will be based in Beirut, with frequent field visits
