Regional Accountant

The regional accountant’s primary responsibility is to provide overall regional finance support to the Regional Finance Officer. This includes drawing up Project Cost-Plans, preparing financial reports, budget coordination, annual and project audits. Duties: 1. Main Responsibilities a- Assist the Regional Finance and Programmes Officers in drawing up the Regional, Country and Project Cost Plans. b- Preparing Financial Reports (allocations) for donors, according to Contracts and donor Budgets.         I.  Check that all recorded expenses are correct.        II.  Check for amendments in transactions.       III.  Check the level of spending against donor budget.        IV.  Prepare for either Budget modification or for No Cost Extension         V.  Report all gaps to the Regional Finance Officer on a monthly basis.        VI.  Ensure that all supporting documents are provided as per Finance policy and Procurement procedures.       VII.  Ensure that all documents are duly and properly filed and archived. c- Deal with routine financial queries. 2. Important duties a) Collaborate with Programmes Officer and assist Regional Finance Officer with the preparation of Budgets (Annual) and Budgets for Project Proposals. b) Assist Regional Finance Officer in the preparation of Project Audits and Annual Audit Skills & Qualifications: Strong analytical, strategic thinking and planning skills. Substantial understanding of, and at least three years of proven experience with, the NGO budgeting, accounting. Strong knowledge of internal accounting controls and budget/cash flow monitoring. Proficiency and competences in handling finance and communications software. Integrity & honesty. Ability to carry out responsibilities with minimal supervision and technical support from within the organization. Respect for timeframes. Ability to work in a multicultural environment
