General Purpose of the Position
The Youth Club Social Worker works with children/youth in a safe and secure environment, according to their age & situation, by stimulating, encouraging participation and interaction between them. He/she provides empathy & psycho-social support to the vulnerable children/youth through the implemented psychosocial support activities in the Youth Club.
Main Responsibilities of the Position
Psycho-Social Activities:
Open Youth Work
Individual Counselling
Meeting with parents
Creating an atmosphere and environment where children feel invited and are ready to spend time/share their experiences.
Supporting children/youth in theirs needs and struggles.
Group Youth Work
Awareness sessionS (personal hygiene, adolescence, friendship, etc.)
Recreational Activities (drama, play, games, circus, sport, storytelling, drawing/painting, artistic activities, music, dancing, etc.)
Programs on ethics, self-esteem, self-awareness, education, career, etc.
Computer Club, English club, etc.
Homework Support
Managing volunteers
Organizing homework support for 2 hours daily
This role will be accomplished for the following aims:
Providing empathy & psycho-social support to the vulnerable children/youth through the implemented activities.
Identifying within the activities the children/youth in need of further assistance and report any observed problem of a child to the psychologist for necessary support or referral to other supportive network.
Knowledge, Skills and Personal Attributes
Good communication (verbal/non-verbal) and interpersonal skills
Strong organizational and team working skills
Good cultural awareness and sensitivity
Highly approachable, trustworthy and confidential
Experience in humanitarian and social work (Scouts experience, Youth clubs experience, Computer skills, Stress Management skills.
Experience in working with refugees is a plus.
Strong experience in providing recreational activities to children
