Justice without Frontiers (JWF), a dynamic, active local non-governmental juristic organization founded in Beirut in 2005, is deeply committed to championing human rights, justice, democracy, peace, and the rule of law. Over the last decade, JWF's impactful work has addressed crucial initiatives, from addressing Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (S/GBV) to empowering women's access to justice, advocating for marginalized individuals, combating human trafficking, and more.
Brief Information of the Project
Empowering women and strengthening the resilience of vulnerable rural and urban communities in South Lebanon and Beirut is a three-year project implemented by a consortium of 3 NGOs, Justice without Frontiers, SHEILD, and JAFRA, led by Welthungerhilfe (WHH) and funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). This project aims to strengthen women's livelihoods and increase the resilience of vulnerable communities engaged in smallholder and subsistence agriculture. Justice without Frontiers’ role in this program is to ensure that gender equality is mainstreamed into all project activities, provide tailored training for women in leadership skills and business development, provide legal support, and conduct gender analysis.
Request:
We are seeking a qualified consultant to develop a booklet on refugees in the agricultural sector. The objective of this consultancy is to create a clear, user-friendly booklet (in English and Arabic) that includes simplified and practical information covering:
- Refugees in the Agricultural Sector: Challenges and barriers faced by refugee workers, with a focus on women refugees
- Recommendation and the input of the roundtables held with the refugees
- Recommends practical steps for protection, regularization, and access to rights.
Scope of work:
- Conduct a review of existing national and international frameworks governing refugees with a focus on the agricultural sector.
- Analyze reports and case studies relevant to refugee workers’ experiences, with attention to gender-specific challenges faced by women refugees.
- Develop a clear and accessible booklet that includes: Overview of refugee involvement in the agricultural sector, Challenges and barriers faced by refugee workers, with a focus on women, Practical tips and guidance for refugees seeking to work in agriculture, and Recommendations.
- Submit the first draft of the booklet to the JWF team for review and feedback.
- Incorporate any comments or suggestions received and revise the document as needed to ensure that it aligns with the goals of the project
- Provide a finalized version of the booklet. The booklet should be in a digital format (e.g., PDF) (40-50 pages)
- The booklet should be developed in the English language
- After the English version is finalized, a translated version in Arabic must be produced.
- The Arabic version should reflect the same clarity, tone, and accessibility as the English original.
- Ensure the content in both versions is culturally appropriate and easily understood by the target audience.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Degree in Law with a focus on Human Rights, and in-depth knowledge of refugees in the agriculture sector
- Proven experience working on refugee livelihoods, especially in the agricultural sector, with a good understanding of the challenges refugee workers face.
- Strong understanding of gender-related issues and barriers faced by women refugees in labor markets.
- Understanding of the Lebanese agricultural sector and the working conditions of refugees within this sector.
- Experience engaging with refugees, NGOs, and community groups
- Experience in legal drafting a booklet
