Who we are?
Justice without Frontiers is a secular, nonpolitical, nonprofit, nongovernmental, juristic civil organization incorporated in November 2005 and headquartered in Beirut. Its main goals revolve around developing and promoting democratic reform and rule of law and undertaking legal and social projects that support human rights. The work of JWF is within four main thematic programs:

Project description
The Women’s Access to Justice program-Phase 2 is a three year initiative that is funded by Finland and implemented in the MENA region specifically in Lebanon, Yemen, Jordan and Egypt. The implementing partner in Lebanon is Justice without Frontiers in partnership with Oxfam. This project aims to provide equal and equitable access to formal and informal justice for poor and vulnerable women in the targeted countries through interventions at the personal, community, systemic and regional levels. A total number of 90,000 women and men as well as a number of legislative institutions, CSOs and international stakeholders will directly benefit from the action in addition to 250,000 indirect beneficiaries.
Topic:
JWF is currently focusing on the Personal Status Law – Christian Religion, and we have selected a specific topic related directly to it, which is the execution of decisions released by religious courts, and related to alimony, and custody.
Each month, religious courts release decisions on alimony and custody in which, both women and lawyers often face many challenges that lead sometimes to failure.
Therefore this research will be concentrating basically on the challenges faced by women and lawyers during legal procedures, and its direct affection on woman’s rights and how to get a monthly alimony from her husband and to raise her children.
In addition, the analyses have to be done on national laws; in order to compare it with the decisions released by religious courts.
And finally, we have to come up with a detailed plan in order to work on it all through the upcoming years, in order to change or modify the legal system and therefore become more compatible with women’s rights.
Main Tasks and deliverable:
Analyze laws and policies related PSL and executing decisions released by religious courts on alimony and custody.
Analyze the various mandate of specialized courts prerogatives and their interconnectedness related to the execution of decisions, and highlight gaps in the existing legal and recommend areas of reform.
Conduct fieldwork studies to depict religious courts.
Work plan within one week of signing the contract
Final analysis report
Qualifications
Degree in International law, or related field
At least 5 year experience in the legal field
Knowledge of international human rights laws, PSL and civil law.
Fluency in English and Arabic
Excellent written and spoken language skills are essential
Demonstrated writing skills for different audiences
