Monitoring and Evaluation Officer

Kafa is seeking a Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Officer to lead the design, implementation, and improvement of M&E systems across its programs. This is a standalone position, and the officer is expected to independently carry out and support all related tasks. The role involves tracking project progress, ensuring data quality, supporting learning, and contributing to organizational accountability and safeguarding efforts. Kafa has zero-tolerance for Sexual Exploitation and Abuse of beneficiaries. Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) is everyone's responsibility and all staff are required to adhere to the Code of Conduct, which enshrines principles of PSEA, always (both during work hours and outside work hours). Familiarization with, and adherence to, the Code of Conduct is an essential requirement of all staff, in addition to related mandatory training. All staff must ensure that they understand and act by this clause. Main Responsibilities • Develop and improve monitoring and evaluation tools, procedures, and indicators to assess project progress and impact. • Monitor project activities and outputs, identify challenges, and suggest practical solutions to improve efficiency and effectiveness. • Conduct regular data collection and entry from the field, ensuring data is accurate, complete, and consistent. • Clean and organize data for analysis and contribute to drafting action plans based on findings. • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reports covering Kafa’s activities and programs across units. • Provide input for donor reports on monthly or quarterly basis. • Participate in project reviews, planning workshops, and proposal development, and document lessons learned for future programming. • Train and support project staff on M&E tools and practices, and coordinate with different project components to ensure smooth implementation. • Develop and update operational tools such as checklists, surveys, and databases to support monitoring efforts. • Oversee KAFA’s Feedback and Complaint Mechanism, ensuring timely, confidential, and fair handling of complaints and feedback from staff and beneficiaries. • Act as KAFA’s Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) focal point, ensuring staff awareness, proper reporting procedures, and compliance with safeguarding standards.

• Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, development studies, statistics, or a related field (Master’s degree is a plus).
• Two to three years of relevant experience in monitoring and evaluation, with a focus on GBV and protection programs.
• Prior experience working with a non-governmental organization and strong understanding of the local context
• Strong knowledge of M&E methodologies, tools, and data management systems.
• Experience with Activity Info and other reporting platforms is an asset.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and report-writing skills.
• Proficiency in Arabic and English. French is a plus.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
• Commitment to safeguarding principles and experience in handling sensitive complaints is highly desirable.
