BACKGROUND and JUSTIFICATION: KAFA (enough) Violence & Exploitation is a Lebanese non-profit, non-political, non-confessional civil society organization, established on the 8th of March 2005 by a group of activists and professionals who have long years of work experience in women issues, specifically in gender-based violence. The organization seeks to mitigate the causes and results of violence and exploitation of women and children through advocacy and lobbying, raising awareness, and by offering social and legal services to vulnerable cases. KAFA’s overall strategic goal is to contribute to the eradication of all sorts of domestic violence and exploitation of women and children. It focuses its strategies and efforts on three major areas: 1) Gender-based violence 2) Child sexual exploitation, and 3) Trafficking in women.
In 2015, KAFA will partner with UNICEF in a project entitled “Protecting children and adolescents from Gender Based Violence” aiming at enhancing protection of vulnerable children and adolescents affected by the Syrian crisis from gender based violence (early marriage and sexual abuse) through promoting their right to information by improving their access to adequate services and their awareness as well as their caregivers’ on how to protect themselves from Gender Based Violence.
The project includes operating an Adolescent Friendly Space in Bekaa that provides services for adolescents aged between 10 and 17 years old including awareness sessions, educational activities (Literacy and English courses), outreach activities and case management. Outreach Coordinator will be hired on a full time basis in order to coordinate outreach activities held in the Informal Settlements in Bekaa.
The Outreach Coordinator is expected to represent KAFA (enough violence& exploitation), in a respectful and professional manner.
SCOPE OF WORK:
The Outreach Coordinator is expected to deliver the following tasks:
- Identify and assess vulnerable Families affected by the Syrian crisis in need of protection;
- Coordinate the establishment of 4 comities in the IS to be able to detect, care and address issues related to violence and abuse and will refer GBV cases for further care and assistance; participate in campaigns and advocacy and coordination meetings;
- Conduct follow up meetings with the comities, form follow up and evaluation forms and make sure that all referrals are followed up by organizations;
- Coordinate the establishment of peer to peer groups to provide adolescents with the skills and strategies necessary to be an effective advocate;
- Conduct follow up meetings with the formed peer groups, assist in conducting their sessions with their peers, quality control on the sessions and providing monthly reports;
- Coordinate the establishment of photography and theatre workshops in the Informal Settlements including regular field visits, recruitment of adolescents and follow up;
- Organize photo exhibition and theatre performances based on the workshops in coordination with the media officer;
- Maintain and develop cooperative working relationships with relevant service providers (national and international), community centers and organizations, governmental institutions, tented settlements; to cover complementary needs of the children and their caregivers beneficiaries of the project;
- Monitor the overall outreach activities based on forms developed by the M&E officer;
- Ensure a monthly quantitative and qualitative report about the work;
- Participate to the organization of the weekly plan with the team;
- Any other reports to be made upon project coordinator’s request.
Experience, Qualifications and Abilities:
- Good communication skills (oral and written) with ability to work effectively with colleagues at all levels;
- Significant background on field;
- Strong analytical skills, organization skills and good communications skills;
- Essential Computer skills (word, excel, power point,..).
PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS:
While working on a KAFA project, it is required to sign KAFA’s Child Protection Policy.
